Open Thread: 7/19/05 Tigers @ White Sox
Jeremy Bonderman (11-6, 4.23) will look to stop a two-game slide tonight against yet another Cuban exile, Jose Contreras (5-5, 3.99).
Posting this early and without pictures today as phase 2 of our two-week long-distance move begins (grrrrr) and I should be carrying something right now.

Tigers 7, Chicago 1
Infante's sixth homer of the season gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead in the second inning. They scored four more off Jose Contreras with two outs in the sixth on five straight run-scoring hits, four of them doubles.
Bonderman (12-6) held the winningest team in the major leagues to one run and three hits in eight innings. He struck out five and walked two.
Chicago (62-30), which had won 11 straight against AL Central rivals, lost to Detroit for just the second time in 10 games this season...."

People forget...
I've always wondered what it would be like to follow US sports teams from Hawaii... Eastern time night games start at 1PM Hawaii time and similar day games start at 7AM. Must be nice. Then, of course, the weather doesn't exactly suck, either.
Oh, yeah... Good performance by Bondo last night. While I bitched about Franklyn German giving up a grand salami in the first game off the ASB against the Royals, the real problem in that game was Bonderman not pitching well. Good to see he corrected whatever it was.
