Final AL All-star Spot

Ok guys, final Al all-star spot voting ends tonight, so lets get the voting done here.

Scott Podsednik (CHW)
Carl Crawford (TB)
Hideki Matsui (NYY)
Derek Jeter (NYY)
Torii Hunter (MIN)

I honestly think that everyone here should vote for Pods. He does NOT have a whole lot of power, but he will probably pinch-run and score or pinch hit to draw a walk. As you guys know he is the BEST basestealer the last 2 years. This year he has 42 SB and i am sure they will let him run wild in the allstar game. Right now Pods is leading over Derek Jeter for the all star vote.

Since unfortunately there are no Tigers players we might as well vote for someone who will help us out the most and who DESERVES this spot. Plus no one wants to see another damn Yankee in an all-star game. Soo get out there and VOTE people!

It's Tough...
Pods has been great.  So has Jeter.  I am still kind of bitter over last year's game and Guillen's not playing, but as of right now I would vote for Torii Hunter.  He's been the most valuable IMO.

Jeter
As much as I dislike Jeter, I have to go with him, followed closely by Hunter.  The occasional single and then automatic steal are nice, but pretty useless without walks or extra-base hits.

I'm with Jeff.  Outside of the stolen bases, Podsednik is a pretty average player.  I think even Matsui should have gotten in ahead of Scott P.

I got a little annoyed when Price and Dickerson said on the radio that even though Lee is better then Podsednik, that the "White Sox wouldn't have as many wins" if they had Lee.  It sounds pretty counterintuitive because nobody will argue Podsednik is better then Lee, so how can you say a better play would result in less wins.

Lee
Lee is having as good a season as he could ever hope for.  So many RBI opportunities.

As much as I hate...
... to jump in on a week-old topic, I recently uncovered my 1983 Bill James Baseball Abstract when helping my parents move to their newly-built house that they are retiring to...  So, the 1983 BJBA covered the 1982 season, the one where Rickey Henderson stole 130 bases.  Bill James calculated that Rickey's base-stealing exploits got the A's an extra 12 runs.  Furthermore, he said that was an estimate, and that he thought that estimate might be a bit high.  And that's with Rickey stealing 130 at a 75.6% success rate, whereas Poddy stole 70 last year with a 84.3% success rate.  Surely, making less outs on the basepaths would help Pod's numbers, but stealing 60 less bases would probably offset that pretty easily.
