The Michael Hollimon Question

Today's Detroit Free Press has a profile on Michael Hollimon, a second baseman/shortstop prospect whom I think draws a lot of curiosity from Detroit Tigers fans.

Is Hollimon too old now to really be considered a prospect?  Is he good enough to play shortstop or second base in the major leagues?  If so, would he be capable of filling the Tigers' current hole at shortstop?

Maybe, maybe not.  (Though admittedly, these questions are better suited for Matt Wallace than me.)  Probably not next year, though it's conceivable he could at least be a utility infielder at some point during the 2008 season.

This past season, playing largely with Double-A Erie, Hollimon batted .280/.366/.473 with 14 home runs and 78 RBI, with 17 stolen bases.  Defensively, he posted 10 errors with a range factor of 4.58.

"Bless You Boys" was the catchphrase used by former Detroit sportscaster Al Ackerman when reporting a winning Tigers score.
