Ain't No Party Like a Venezuela Party

It could be muy caliente in Venezuela tomorrow, once the newest Detroit Tiger gets together with one of his new teammates.  From the ESPN.com Winter Meetings Blog:

11:16 p.m., from Enrique Rojas

* Miguel Cabrera flew to Venezuela today, and Carlos Guillen plans to throw a party in Maracay on Thursday to celebrate Cabrera's trade to the Tigers.  Both are from that city and have been friends for many years.  Cabrera will join another Venezuelan, Magglio Ordonez, in Detroit next season.

And if the Tigers are serious about trading Brandon Inge, they might want to get on that - and soon.  The third base market is becoming increasingly crowded.

10:40 p.m., from Jerry Crasnick

* The third-base market is likely to get a little more crowded next week if the Padres non-tender Morgan Ensberg.  Look for the Phillies, Twins and Giants to call on Ensberg, who hit 36 homers for Houston in 2005 but has slipped to 23 and 12 in the two years since.

The encouraging thing is that there is a market, if the Tigers want to deal Inge away.
