Open Thread - Game 32: Mariners (14-14) at Tigers (20-11), 7:05 p.m. EST
Cha Seung Baek (0-0, 7.53) vs. Nate Robertson (3-1, 2.48)
Recap of last night's game below.
[Pardon the early open thread posting. I'll be away from the computer for most of the afternoon and evening.]
Can the Detroit Tigers extend their winning streak to nine games tonight?
Baek starts in place of the still-injured Felix Hernandez, who isn't quite ready to take back his turn in the Mariners' rotation. (I suppose that helps the home team, but I really would've liked to see him pitch against the Tigers.) He was roughed up in his last start by the Yankees at Yankee Stadium (seven runs in 3 2/3 innings), but pitched very well in his previous outing against the Royals (one run and six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings).
Last season, Robertson went 2-1 vs. Seattle, and is 4-2 with a 2.34 ERA for his career against the Mariners. He broke a three-game winless streak with a win in his last start vs. the Orioles.
Meanwhile, Mariners' fans are reduced to making fun of Detroit fans' spelling. Don't let them get away with this.
