C-Mo Is In a Slump
5 Ks in one game is no good, but it goes beyond that.
He's been bad this season. He was terrible in April and almost as bad in June.
He's got the second worst OBP on the club behind Neifi, and leads all Tigers hitters with 67 Ks.
He is streaky though. In 2006 and 2004 he had drastically better performances post All-Star break. And he had a much better month of May this season than he has in the other two months.
As we're heading out on the road in the NL we better see Sheff in the OF instead of Craig with the pitcher batting.
And when is it time to give Thames more of a consistent spot in the field?

According to Danny Knobler...
But I agree. He's doing nothing at the plate to help the Tigers, and shows a mystifying lack of comprehension for situational hitting.

Well I don't know about that
While his numbers are down a little this year .289 OBP and .437 SLG, they're just a tick off of his career averages .308 and .459.
While he took the golden sombrero and one the other night, he was 5/17 with a walk coming into that performance.
Thames, on the other hand, has 97 plate appearances, a similiar .289 OBP and .422 SLG, while striking out at a similiar rate to Monroe.
I think Monroe is still the 'hot' hand unless Thames does something to blow Leyland away.
