The Price For Tazawa Has Been Set

The Detroit Tigers made their interest in Japanese pitcher Junichi Tazawa official last week, sending two scouts to meet with the 22-year-old while he played in a national tournament.  But in the auction for his services, expressing interest and demonstrating interest just became two different concepts.

According to NPB Tracker, the Boston Red Sox have offered Tazawa a $6 million contract.  It's unclear whether or not it's a major league deal, like the one the Atlanta Braves reportedly offered, but at that price, that seems like a reasonable conclusion to draw.

The Seattle Mariners have also apparently put in a bid, with a contract offer that includes incentives based on appearances and innings pitched.

Meanwhile, there's no word on whether or not the Tigers (or the Indians, who also met with Tazawa last week) have discussed any sort of contract yet.
