Galarraga is Tigers Rookie of the Year
I can't imagine there was much argument over this, but the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association named Armando Galarraga the Tigers Rookie of the Year.
In a season where very few of Dave Dombrowski's off-season acquisitions worked out in the Tigers' favor, Galarraga turned out to be the team's best starting pitcher. In 28 starts (30 games) with Detroit this year, he finished with a 13-7 record and 3.73 ERA, both of which led the team.
Galarraga's 13 victories were tied for the most among rookie pitchers with (ahem) Jair Jurrjens of the Atlanta Braves. And his 126 strikeouts were the best among rookies in the American League.
Here's the complete story from MLB.com's Jason Beck.
