Moving Magglio: Everyone's Got Ideas
In a blog posting for the Freep, Jon Paul Morosi suggests the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as perhaps the best trade partner with the Detroit Tigers for Magglio Ordonez.
The Angels could have tens of millions coming off the books, depending on how many of their free agents sign elsewhere: closer Francisco Rodriguez, first baseman Mark Teixeira, outfielders Garret Anderson and Juan Rivera, reliable starter Jon Garland and underrated left-handed reliever Darren Oliver.
So, they should be able to assume the remaining money on Ordoñez’s contract: a maximum of $51 million over the next three seasons.
Morosi also points out that the Angels have plenty of what the Tigers are looking for, with catchers, shortstops, and relievers to spare. And they could still get all those things while saving some money on Ordonez's contract.
On a somewhat unrelated note, wouldn't it be great if Morosi kept that blog buzzing throughout the off-season? The online coverage the Tigers get locally absolutely pales in comparison to that in other cities. Look at almost every newspaper website that covers a Major League Baseball team and it has a dedicated blog from a beat writer.

The offer of Arredoondo, Aybers, Wood and Conger is worth looking at. I would like to see where Furcal ends up before any trades are done.
