Game 39: Yankees @ Tigers -- POSTPONED

This looked like an inevitability all morning with the weather forecast and the amount of rain that had already fallen, but this afternoon's Yankees-Tigers game was called off (shortly after the scheduled start time) due to rain.  No announcement as of yet regarding a rescheduling.  The Tigers have an off-day tomorrow, but the Yanks play in Tampa Bay tomorrow night, so a make-up date will have to wait.

I suppose the good news is that Detroit neither lost again on national TV or on a Sunday, right?  HA!  Sorry, that was a little bit of Detroit Lions-type of humor there.

UPDATE:  According to Tom Gage, the likely make-up dates for today's game are either July 24 or September 1.

While watching the Sox/Twins game

I thought of a good left fielder the Tigers could’ve had: Craig Monroe. Actually, I joke, I agreed with the decision to boot C-Mo and still do, but it makes you think… Of course, if we still had C-Mo we wouldn’t have rapid Rapada.

Nah....

While I do miss C-Mo and the magic he provided for that magical 06 team, I agree, it was time for him to move on. That helicopter swing struck us out of a ton of innings last year, along with the dreaded Inge check-swing strikeout.

I wish I could say I’m rooting for him, but due to him being in our division, no can do. Still, I’m not rooting against him overtly. I smiled watching him hit his two bombs tonight.

We're getting spoiled...

Going into Tuesday’s game, the Tigers will be riding a two-day unbeaten streak!

Twins

I was hoping the Sox would pull that one out, and give us a little break, but nope.

Go Tigers

Wakefield

It’s amazing to see Wakefield look like an ace against us and he literally was throwing BP to the Twins. Just goes to show ‘ya that nobody’s perfect. Their fans were probably having fits he pitched so bad. C-Mo does appear to have found his stroke cause he sure didn’t have it in Detroit and Chicago. And, that’s a good thing!
