Determining Fanhood... a post by Tigsfan
Hello all again,
I just finished writing up another kneejerk piece of writing after reading some comments that I've went and suddenly become a bandwagon fan. I typically ignore these comments as i know that I'm not, but today I thought I'd share some Tigers memories as well as clarifying my love for the Tigers.
I wrote the post with complete honesty and tried to explain myself and some of my frustrations with the Tigers of late.
I loved the recent move of sending willis to Lakeland which I also touch on in the post. It signifies change, which I explain more in the entry.
Anyways I hope y'all like it .
You can find my blog here .
You can read the post here .
Comments are always welcome ;) even jeers and "bandwagon" fan shots ... I love critism in any form.. ;) Call me a masacist if you will lol
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of the Bless You Boys writing staff. However, it does reflect the views of this particular fan, which is as important as anything else written here at BYB.

sounds like your back on the wagon
alright i dont know you so its not really fair for me to go out and call you a bandwagon fan just yet, but it sure does sound like it. Yeah i read your post on your little site, and you may have roted for the tigers since you were sick, but are you really a true fan??? Anyone who starts off a post called “Dear Tigers…Im done with you” deserves to be questioned. And yeah I understand you were saying that you are emotionally done, but i think a real die hard could never lose the passion and emotional attachment to the team they say they love.
In your post you said…. “These Tigers are officially getting called a bust in my book for the season. They won’t make the playoffs and even worse THEY LOOK LIKE THEY DON’T CARE cough Cabrera cough!!!”..........At the time you posted that they had 103 games to play!!!! Would a true fan give up that easy? Sure looked like they cared this last series. And how about the guy who dont care going 5-11in the series with a walk off to end it.
Now i hate to pass judgment on someone i dont even know, but since this is a blog and much worse things are often said about people, im gonna have to say it …..... YOUR A BANDWAGON FAN!!!!, sorry man, some times the truth hurts

I appreciate Your Honesty my man
I truly do, I’m an impulse writer, I don’t deny that. I still don’t think the Tigers will make the playoffs, I still think Cabrera has a lot to prove, and I still think that this team is a bust, and I still am a fan. Remember when the Tigs swept the series against the Mariners, how everyone suddenly thought the season was gonna turnaround? well then they went and stunk it up on their road trip. I try to write what the fans don’t want to admit. This team needs to play .680 ball (roughly) to make the playoffs… And thats assuming the Chisox, who I honestly believe are the real deal with their pitching.
To summarize, just because a fan criticizes his team, doesn’t make him any less of a fan. Remember that. Would you rather me write about how everything is roses and butterflies? Sorry, not gonna get it from me. I’m a critic and a HUGE fan. Does a guy not have the right to be critical of a team that had all but promised us a world series birth and has come up laying eggs? Gimme a break.
If your definition of a fan is that NO MATTER WHAT you NEVER criticize your team, or question calls, or rip them apart ocattionally for lackluster play then I am the Ultimate Bandwagon, Crappy fan. Without question. But keep in mind that by not questioning the team and their players when they are playing terrible, then you are just supporting a continued season of mediocrity. We as fans have the right to criticize and yell at our players (even if their in the tv screen). Thats what makes us fans.
I appreciate your honesty though, I do. Though by the way the name of the post was “I’m done with you till something changes” , please remember that. And as I said, it was an emotional post, that obviously drew your interest along with others (my most popular post to date).
Just remember these things:
1. I write on impulse
2. Being critical of your team doesn’t make you any less of a fan (read some of the posts on this blog, by other supposed fan)
3. Oh, and btw, Bandwagoners are the ones jumping on to a team when they are winning…. not the ones writing about them even when they are losing.
I appreciate your honesty my man, and i’m truly sorry that you feel that way.

Criticism vs. Giving Up
There is a difference between being critical and giving up hope. “I still don’t think the Tigers will make the playoffs, I still think Cabrera has a lot to prove, and I still think that this team is a bust, and I still am a fan,” is not a critical statement, it’s almost a statement of abandonment. Being critical consists of outlining the flaws and suggesting improvements. All you do is whine about the tigs not doing so hot, and no one wants to read that. And you must be some kind of superhuman baseball fan to believe Dontrelle was “fired” by the Rays… that makes me question a lot more than your bandwagon status.

I wasn't referring to Dontrelle
I was referring to Chuck Hernandez. Not Dontrelle. Read the post. Then be critical… Give me a break man. I’m not stupid.
