Bedtime for Bondo is Now Official

Before last night's game, the Tigers announced that Jeremy Bonderman would indeed have to undergo surgery to correct the thoracic outlet syndrome that caused a blood clot to develop in his right shoulder. Bondo's season wouldn't officially be over until he could be further examined by the same vascular surgeon (Dr. Greg Pearl) who operated on Kenny Rogers last year and the cause of the clot was determined. After getting checked out yesterday, however, surgery was deemed necessary.
The exact procedure that Bonderman will undergo hasn't been revealed yet, but it's likely that a rib will have to be removed to renew circulation from his arm to his heart. With the surgery (which will be performed June 30), Bonderman's 2008 season is officially over. He should be fully recovered by Spring Training next year.

I’d never heard of THoracic outlet syndrome until it knocked out Hank Blalock last year…..and now I see it all over the place…..

It's the new "plantar fasciitis"
Remember when that seemed to be the in-vogue injury in the NBA?
Or the high ankle sprain in the NFL?
It is interesting how these things seem to occur in clusters.
