Game 130: Tigers (64-65) at Royals (55-74)
Detroit Tigers at Kansas City Royals, Aug 24, 2008 2:10 PM EDT
Kenny Rogers (9-10, 4.94) vs.
Brandon Duckworth (0-0, -.--)
Another Salvage Sunday? No, sir! Today, the Tigers can sweep the Royals for a second consecutive time, which would also even up the season series between the two teams, and push the Tigers back to the .500 mark.
For the second game in a row, Kansas City starts a pitcher fresh up from the minors. But unlike Kyle Davies, Brandon Duckworth hasn't seen the big leagues since the end of last season. He's subbing for the injured Luke Hochevar, who's on the DL with a bruised rib cage. In 27 games (17 starts) with Triple-A Omaha, Duckworth was 5-11 with a 4.75 ERA. He shut the Tigers out for 6 1/3 innings when he faced them in April of 2007.
Kenny Rogers broke a four-game losing streak in his last start, beating Texas in Arlington. The last time he won a second straight game was against these Royals, as he held them to one run and four hits over six innings.

KC certainly hasn't helped themselves this weekend
Trey Hillman sounds pretty unhappy with his team.

Kenny's off again.
Luckily, that kid swung at two out of the zone to get the inning over.

If any of you have tix (or know someone!) for the Yankee’s game (rain out) that is rescheduled for 9/1, AND you can’t use them…..please let me know. I would be a happy man.

Sure...Edgar screwed up...

Only taking two of three against Texas and KC would show how mediocre we really are. We mine as well have gotten swept both times.

You know what's hilarious...
At the start of the year people were trying to hype this Tigers team as one of the best offenses “ever”, and today they can’t manage more than three friggin’ runs against Brandon Duckworth. That’s absolutely humiliating. I would say it’s a new low in a season of new lows, but there’s always tomorrow.
Pathetic.
