Last Place Beckons: Royals 6, Tigers 2
Let's keep it short and sad tonight. The Detroit Tigers are one game away from last place in the AL Central. Take that one to sleep.

Losing 10 out of your last 11 games will do that to a team. And to kick you while you're down, Tiger Town, the only best reason to watch this baseball club these days hurt himself. Miguel Cabrera left the game in the third inning with "upper back tightness," and is listed as day-to-day.
Not finishing in last doesn't seem like that much to ask, does it?

Nothing is too much to ask for this team.
I think it’s time to change the slogan too; I’m not convinced they’re trying to stay out of last place

Seriously. It looks bad on paper and depresses fans a bit but it’s completely meaningless in the context of moving forward with this team.

I can’t help but wonder if Cabrera is just going to pop a squat as this season ends. No point in killing yourself just to stay out of last, which is essentially a fan concern. I’m sure the team rather not end up there but as a player (or even organization) their mindset is “in the playoffs” and “not in the playoffs”. The nail is in the coffin on this one (to steal from ’Duk) and while that RBI machine is nice to have around, we can all give plenty of love to Maggs right now… while we still can (maybe).
