From Tom Gage:
"What you are going to read in stories coming out of Wednesday night's 9-6 victory over the Angels is that Curtis Granderson has now matured to the point that he could be moved down in the lineup.
[...]
"Well, the manager now feels Granderson has arrived. The catch is, however, that he's not going to move him because the Tigers don't have a "pure leadoff hitter" to replace Granderson at the top of the lineup. So he's staying there."

I like having Curtis in the leadoff spot…. I have confidence in him to get into scoring position for the next guys to get him in. Also, if by some miracle the 8/9 hitters reach the bases, it’s nice to have curtis and polanco coming up to hit them in.

so stupid
So we take a guy whose become a BETTER hitter and put him in a position to get FEWER at bats.
Curtis leads the team in OBP he should be no where but the leadoff spot.

The leadoff hitter's role has changed
Obviously, “setting the table” is still a priority. But for the Tigers, Grandy can do even more. The Tigers have plenty of middle of the order hitters already, but they don’t have anyone else who can provide what he brings to the leadoff spot.

For sure. I think Curtis is solidifying himself as one of the best leadoff guys in the game. He, HanRam, Sizemore, Damon, Kisnler and Roberts are about the best there is in my opinion. He should not be moved, I just wish he stole more bases.
