A One-Year Deal for Brandon Lyon?
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal heard from a major league source that Lyon will sign a one-year deal with the Detroit Tigers for just under $5 million, with more available in incentives.

Lyon
So if it’s true the Tigers will sign Brandon Lyon, does he become the closer by default, or will Leyland have a competition in spring training?
If Lyon can pitch like he did in the first half last season (2.43 ERA 19 saves) then it’s a no brainer who the closer should be.

More on Lyon
Jon Paul Morosi is reporting in this morning’s Free Press Lyon is actually expected to sign a multiyear deal with the Tigers, provided he passes a physical.
Tigers are also expected to sign reliever Scott Williamson who last pitched with Baltimore in 2007. But with Williamson’s injury history, it’s expected Detroit will sign him to a minor league contract.
One thing I found interesting from Leyland’s comments yesterday was he would not hesitate to put another young pitcher on the team. Stay tuned.
