Game 159 Overflow Thread #2

Bobby Seay probably made a second overflow thread unnecessary, after allowing four runs to score.  (Two of those runs are charged to Fu-Te Ni.)

But the Tigers still have two innings in which to stage a comeback and give that packed Comerica Park crowd something to celebrate.  Do you still have some hope in you?

Twins 8, Tigers 1 as we go to the bottom of the eighth.

OT#2 Rally Time?

Is this legal?
I don't know. It's fun, though...

Crap.

Peavy-EJack.

Freddy-Figaro.

Danks-JV.

I’m going to need to drink a lot this weekend.

by rook34 on Oct 1, 2009 3:55 PM EDT reply actions

Yup.

I am not sure we can beat Peavy. He was unreal the other night.

by rook34 on Oct 1, 2009 3:58 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm going to be at Sunday's game

I really hope it won’t matter at that point (in a good way for us of course) because otherwise I will probably suffer from several heart-related traumas.

by kendra.michelle on Oct 1, 2009 3:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Okay

now do that 7 more times plz

by kendra.michelle on Oct 1, 2009 3:59 PM EDT reply actions

Not sure what they are upset about.

Hit their first guy in the top of the 9th in the head. Enough of this crap.

by rook34 on Oct 1, 2009 4:03 PM EDT reply actions

That would be the perfect job for me.

I’m half deaf, so I have to read lips quite a bit. If only I had cable, I could tell you what was said.

Rats.

(which is what that one chick had a lot of in her hair)

by NCDee on Oct 1, 2009 4:10 PM EDT reply actions

*sigh*

This is a bit embarrassing at this point.

*Sigh*

No TV. Not the same effect watching Gameday.

by Grant E. on Oct 1, 2009 4:17 PM EDT reply actions

delmon young

is a total piece of shit, he deserved that, despite the fact that the pitch was 100% not intentional

by zumayafn on Oct 1, 2009 4:18 PM EDT reply actions

You sure about that?

Both teams have gotten pretty sporty as the day has worn on.

by john.kmiecik on Oct 1, 2009 4:19 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh yes.

Completely unintentional. A bolt out of the blue.

by frisbeepilot on Oct 1, 2009 4:19 PM EDT up reply actions

We took the bait.

Will Laird be suspended?

Not a good idea, guys. Not going into the last series of the season.

by rook34 on Oct 1, 2009 4:19 PM EDT reply actions

Doubtful

Unless we see video of Laird doing something intentional, or his sign (yeah right) indicating to throw at him.

by john.kmiecik on Oct 1, 2009 4:20 PM EDT up reply actions

no.

mcclendon is still in the game too

by allikazoo on Oct 1, 2009 4:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Don't listen to Rod and Mario

There is no such rule, I’ve got no clue what they’re on about

by john.kmiecik on Oct 1, 2009 4:22 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't see how

Nobody charged at anybody. No equipment thrown. A fine maybe.

by NCDee on Oct 1, 2009 4:20 PM EDT up reply actions

I can see Bondo possibly eating something

If they believe the intent was there (which as we know, is usually yes)

by john.kmiecik on Oct 1, 2009 4:22 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't think...

That MLB would take the bait on that. Bonderman for 5 games (no great loss) and that’s it. Granted I just finished saying that I didn’t see the fight, but unless Laird was going after somebody, I can’t see him getting a suspension.

by Grant E. on Oct 1, 2009 4:22 PM EDT up reply actions

This was really dumb.

We don’t have the best standing with the league office. Gardenhire must be laughing pretty hard. We should have waited until next year to settle this.

by rook34 on Oct 1, 2009 4:20 PM EDT reply actions

I have to agree

Clearing the benches, bullpens out… not the best idea. The league office looks at this, sees the Tigers down 8-3 on a day they can clinch against their big opponent… it’ll be seen as retaliation on Bondo’s part. I don’t think anyone else will eat a suspension though, or even a fine.

by john.kmiecik on Oct 1, 2009 4:25 PM EDT up reply actions

I kind of doubt that's playing into it.

But there all kinds of things the have.

-The awful strike zone today
-Baker coming way inside on Thames
-Twins fans thought the Thames slide was a little cheap (I can see it)
-Awful call on Santiago getting doubled off 2nd
-Did I mention awful umpiring

by rcpratt on Oct 1, 2009 4:27 PM EDT up reply actions

+1

horrible umpiring this game. I don’t think Mauer sign stealing had anything to do with it, I think it started with bad calls and just escalated from there.

by what_would_gil_thorp_do on Oct 1, 2009 6:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Rod and Mario, I have no idea what rule you're referring to

I just searched “eject” throughout the entire MLB rulebook and found absolutely nothing about automatic ejections. It’s umpire’s discretion. The only “automatic” is if a manager leaves the dugout to call balls and strikes then he is warned and if he reaches the plate he is ejected.

So do we have it in us?

Maybe bringing The Savior into the ballgame will lead us to the Promised Land.

Joe Nathan.

Talk to you tomorrow, folks.

We know better.

by john.kmiecik on Oct 1, 2009 4:26 PM EDT up reply actions

my meeting started right as seay loaded the bases and cabrera came up

Man, I gotta start skipping meetings….the one on Tuesday covered the 10th inning, and now, the Twins scored 4 in the 8th right after I leave to put it away.

Rally Slackers, anyone?

F Joe Nathan. F the Twins. F Minnesota.

Whew. OK, let’s do this. Time to make Ozzie swear uncontrollably again.

Is there a football game on this weekend?

Can we park a 42 inch plasma screen in the visitors’ locker room?

by NCDee on Oct 1, 2009 4:45 PM EDT up reply actions

The Michigan-Michigan State game is on Saturday

Chris Getz at least would care, seeing as he was a Wolverine.

by kendra.michelle on Oct 1, 2009 4:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Clayton Richard would have cared too

if he didn’t play for San Diego now

Saturday should be fun.

UM-MSU at noon, Notre Dame (I know, I know) at 3:30, Twins vs. Grienke at 4:00 and Tigers (possibly for division title) at 7:00. Sounds like a good day.

by Grant E. on Oct 1, 2009 4:53 PM EDT reply actions

And I don't work!

(Except I’m not a Michigan or a Michigan State fan, so that means nothing to me)

Maybe all the stars in the universe will align

And UM, Leprechaun tools, Twins and douche sox will all lose.

by rcpratt on Oct 1, 2009 4:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Hi, I'm home

Apparently I missed some sort of excitement. As I left lab, I checked my iPod and Gameday simply said “Delmon Young hit by pitch.” That’s all it said. By the time I got to my car and turned on the radio, there was a lot of background commotion and Armando Galarraga was pitching (very well, I might add).
