Manny Acta is the Indians' New Manager
The Cleveland Indians have hired Manny Acta to be their new manager. Acta was chosen over former Mets manager Bobby Valentine and former Tiger Torey Lovullo, the current manager of the Indians' Triple-A team.
Acta was let go by the Washington Nationals this year, after a 158-252 record as their manager over two-and-a-half seasons. He was also a candidate for the Houston Astros' managerial opening, but turned down their offer, according to the Houston Chronicle.
SI.com's Jon Heyman speculates that Valentine may have wanted to keep working in television, where he's currently an analyst for ESPN.

Buh?
Alright, whatever Cleveland. Have fun with that one. We’ll be competing for the division next year, while you’ll be fighting the Royals for last.
Wedge got handed a bit of a raw deal. It’s not exactly easy to motivate your players when you keep trading your Cy f’n Young winners at the trade deadline, Mark Shapiro.

Acta is the best tactical manager in baseball
We’ll be feeling this one…

Depends if he gets the Wedge treatment
At this rate, Sizemore is gone by July!

I agree.
I think Acta is pretty underrated because of the woeful Nationals team and with the pieces that Cleveland has he may be able to mount something scary.

What pieces?
I’ve got to be missing something with the Indians sucking it up hard over the last couple years.

Sizemore
LaPorta, Carlos Santana (a catcher in their system), Shin Soo Choo, Perez, Carlos Carrasco, Justin Masterson, Asdrubal Cabrera, Jhonny Peralta.
Hell of a lot more talent than the Nationals had.

Well, the Single A Lansing Lugnuts probably had more talent than the Nats did
I sort of see it there between LaPorta, Choo and Carrasco. Peralta and Cabrera to a lesser extent. I have to wonder who of that bunch will get shipped come trade deadline.

Step up for Acta
After the nothing he had to work with the last couple of years, the Indians’ talent will seem like a breath of fresh air for Acta, even if they have sold all the good pitchers off.
