Lowell off to Texas

PrintWhich isn't a surprise, but what I find amazing is that Boston is going to pay 9 million of his contract while the Rangers only spend $3 mil on Mike Lowell. Honestly, this is rather incredible to me to see a team eat 75% of a contract. I wonder if this opens the door on the Tigers to eat a lot of, say, Dontrelle's salary and ship him, or even Nate or someone else. 75% is quite a bit though, IMO.

I don't see much point in eating that much of a contract...
especially Dontrelle’s because I think they’re getting insurance for him. Unless I’m mistaken about that.
Robertson could still be useful for us. (I know sounds strange).

I’d take Bradley over Guillen, I think he would thrive here.
I guess it shouldn’t surprise me though that Boston would eat 75% of a contract just to get rid of a guy so they can go get Adrian Beltre. In the end, I think that’s who they’re after, but obviously I could be wrong.

if youk can’t even charge Porcello and be successful, what makes the RSox think that he can be successful against charging pulled fastballs?
(bad joke I know. But as Tigers fans it is now our responsibility to mock Youk for being taken out by a 20 year old kid.)
In all seriousness, how is Youkalis fair as a defender? Mostly I’m asking to see how much merit the talk has.
