"I made 30 starts last year and didn't have to go to the DL. Every pitcher has risk going forward; I'm one of them. So the violent delivery, whatever knock you want to come up with me, that's fine, I'll go out there and pitch, and I'll have success."

Conflicted
While I like this sort of stance from an incoming player I can’t help but think he’s tempting fat and that a meteor will strike him down (or shoulder problems again).
Tempting
I can’t help but think he’s tempting fat
No, you’re thinking about when we traded fopr Cabrera, and he had to answer all those questions about being overweight and out of shape the previous year. That was tempting fat. This is tempting something else altogether . . . :)
Give em' hell crazy eyes!
I miss Grandy too but let’s turn the page and welcome our new Tigers!
Scherzer will be great for years to come, he is the real deal!
Glad he’s confident and I’m looking forward to seeing him this February in sunny Lakeland.

Scherzer really does excite me
I really look forward to him. I like a good strikeout pitcher like that and think he’s going to do some great things in Comerica Park.
He’ll probably break himself, but pitchers do even when they’re careful. The important thing is for him to be up front with the trainer and coaching staff when he does.
Yes
That is one of my cardinal rules of baseball, one which has been violated a lot in the past few years. If you are injured, don’t try to be a hero and pitch hurt. It’ll just make you not very effective (I’m looking at you, Jeremy Bonderman/Armando Galarraga/Kenny Rogers/Joel Zumaya/Nate Robertson/Fernando Rodney/Todd Jones)

I watched an archived game from last year that he started
I quite enjoyed watching him. the delivery is a little crazy, but yeah, I think he’ll be fine.
are we talking D-Train crazy?
or just a bit unusual?

Definitely not D-Train
Somewhat violent delivery, but I actually didn’t notice anything extremely unusual about it, and I watched quite a few D’Backs games over the summer. He did make one start against the Tigers back in ‘08. He did take the loss, although he didn’t pitch that badly (with the exception of walking Armando Galarraga, giving up a two-run single to Guillen-I think, and giving up a solo home run to Matt Joyce).
Here’s a video highlight of Scherzer:

I don't see anything incredibly bad about it...
but than again I’m not a pitching expert.

It’s more than a year oudated though, so it is possible things have changed since.

I love speed as much as then next person
but I’d feel a lot better if he had a reliable second pitch, too. Perhaps Dr. Knapp can help him with that.
