"He'll knock in 90 runs, for sure."

This isn't a far-fetched idea
We all saw Magglio still had it in the last half of the season. He had a bit more power and started pulling the ball with force, along with going the other way. He was just clutch. Considering his wife is better and the contract is off his back (though, yes, he does have another option yr) he should be able to play in that #3 or #5 spot and drive in runs consistently.
Plus if he’s going well all year, he can protect Miggy in the lineup, something that really hasn’t been done on this team.

His option already vested last year.
There is no buyout clause.

90 RBI from your number 3 hitter really isn't that impressive.
If Maggs has 90 RBI, then it means he’s playing full time, and the final year of his deal is going to kick in at $15M. For that kind of jack, I’d hope for more than 90 ribbies.
I sincerely hope we see the Maggio of 06-08, as it would go a long way towards fixing the Tigers’ offense. But I’m not holding my breath.
It's pretty nice though for a singles machine hittingh second
I can't believe I ate the whole thing!

A little quick math and...
that comes to $200,000 for each RBI. Will that be cash or credit?
I love Maggs, and I hope he has a great year. But ouch, if he struggles again this year, it’s really going to hurt. We just have sooooo many bad contracts. If Maggs can earn his paycheck, we could have a shot at the Central…

if there are consistently people on base....
Sure, he can knock in 90. That’s nothing to break out the party hats or Marlboro Reds for, skip.

idk...
if maggs bats 3 than that would mean that our leadoff guy actually got on base. A major improvement over last year.

also an improvement over the No. 2 batter
both No. 1 and No. 2 in the line up (spots, not names) had .321 OBP.

yikes
That’s rough.
I could see Leyland making Raburn or Santiago leadoff most of the time, but I have a feeling he’ll rotate it around quite a bit. We may see 100 different lineup cards this season. :)
And just for fun, I’ll make my first of many offseason lineup predictions:
1. Rayburn LF
2. Sizemore 2B
3. Ordonez RF
4. Cabrera
5. Guillen DH
6. Inge 3B
7. Laird C
8. Jackson CF
9. Everett SS
It’s definitely a different lineup with Grandy gone. 6-9 is rough. Very rough.

Agreed
6-9 is rough indeed!
Seriously though who is going to lead off? I can’t imagine Inge bats sixth for very long either.
You are right on though, who else?
Ahhh, the countdown to 2011!

No rougher than last year.

The Grandy Shift
Last year we saw a lot of guys like Raburn and Thames in the six hole, and then Inge, Laird, and Everett/Santiago. With Grandy gone, we will now likely have A-Jax towards the bottom of the lineup, which would likely be a pretty good downgrade from a Thames or Rayburn.
I miss big Marcus already. I wish we would pick him back up…

I don't.
For Marcus’ own good, he needed a new home.

Leyland Channels Sparky
He’ll knock in 90 runs, for sure. It’s etched in cement!
Based on Ordoñez' August/Sept/Oct 2009
Yeah, he should be having a massive year. The gigantic question mark is if the end of last season was simply a fluke for a superstar on his way out or a prelude to one last big performance. It’s hard to tell.

And it will be a while before we find out, probably
Maggs typically gets off to slow starts, even in 2007.

Maggs and .300
.298 was his worst batting avg. as a Tiger in 2006. I will take a Tiger worst avg of .280 if he can get back to 15-20 home runs and drive in 85-100 runs. No one likes the $ we are paying him, but he got the contract when the iron was hot. Even during his monster 3 years with us, he only averaged 24 HR during that span. I feel he will come back and have a solid year with hopefully a little more power.
Here is to hoping..
That the WBC wore out Maggs and Guillen and this year they will be ready for MLB.
