Seems like the Angels are scrambling and, well, let's just say I'm glad I'm not an LAnaheim fan.

With Rodney and Fuentes,

said fans could be in for very nerve-wracking 8th and 9th innings.

They're both lit molotov cocktails.

I still wouldn’t want to watch those two back to back.

Hmm.

It’s always possible to have multiple blown saves handed out. Ergo two explosions.

by StringTheory on Dec 22, 2009 4:15 PM EST up reply actions

Only one blown save

Rodney only had one blown save. I’d rather have him than not have him. If we get a closer ever, he can be a great 7th or 8th guy like he’s always been. Best changeup in the league.

Rodney wasn't that good.

The save stat is misleading. Rodney was asking for way too much and overpaying for relief pitching when that has been the focus of your drafting makes little sense.

I will say this: If I had one more pitch in the major leagues to watch before I die, it’d be a Fernando Rodney change-up in the zone on a 3-1 count. The amount of swing-and-misses he got on that change-up despite people looking for it is still surreal to me.

How does 37/38 saves not translate to type a Free agent?

I’m sure there’s more to it, in terms of ERA or whatever, but…

Can’t wait to see what Fernando does in a set up role…they’re ALL non-save situations!

Buster Olney tweets:

Heard this: The Phillies are showing interest in Fernando [Rodney], at two years and about $12 million.

by StringTheory on Dec 22, 2009 7:02 PM EST reply actions

He was 37/38 in save situations.

Why that is important, I cannot fathom but it seems to carry weight with some GMs.

(A potential) $33MM committed to Rodney, Lyon, and Pudge this offseason. Ha.

2 years @ 12mm

seems like an awful lot for Fernando. Fools. If they sign him I want to know who over at Halos Heaven should we forward the roller coaster girl to?

by Detroitchik on Dec 22, 2009 8:21 PM EST reply actions

Thought the same thing with the coaster girl when I started skimming the comments

I’m pretty sure Rodney/Coaster Girl are a package deal, although as it’s been discussed before though, unless Mariano Rivera realizes his inner Detroit Tiger, we’re going to need CG.

That’s a lot less than 3/30 that he wanted a couple of weeks ago. I love seeing how players demands drop over the course of the month of December.

Remember

The roller coaster girl started with Todd Jones. I’m pretty sure BYB has right of first refusal on this.

I feel like there should be a post with the roller coaster girl as the entire body of text. You know … for old time’s sake.

I kind of hope it’s in Philly. Imagine the times he was rocked in the CoPa and then it being in that bandbox in front of those fan? Yikes.

Plus, I like the thought of him signing for around $3 mil less than what Cliff Lee makes this year, haha.

I can't help

but find Rodney about to sign with LAnaheim a funny matter.
