This makes me wonder

They also outrighted Zach Simons. That creates an empty spot on the 40-man roster. Is something brewing?

Where are you reading about Simons?

I’m not doubting you, I’m just curious.

Billfer mentioned it

Link

Sorry, I thought everyone else would know about it by now. I’m never the first to know these things.

billfer's been posting news before everyone so far

maybe just keep an eye on his blog/twitter. I’ve just been posting stuff on BYB as I see it, once I confirm nobody else has. hehe

Does anyone know...

if this exposes Simons to the Rule V draft?
If so, I’ve gotta disagree with the move, even though I’m sure it’s designed to make room for the incoming prospects involved in the Jackson trade.

Good question.

I was wondering the same thing. I assume it does expose him, but definitely don’t take my word for it.

After doing some reading,

it seems Simons will just go to Toledo if this is the first time he’s been outrighted. I don’t know if the Rockies ever outrighted him in the past though.

I hope so

I want the loot from the Grilli heist to stay around for a while.

yes

Provided that Simons stays in the fold, could he be a late-season call-up for the D?

Certainly

Maybe even mid-season. He’s got a good upside (setup guy).

I think we all expect some RP signing

But if DD doesn’t pick up a back end bullpen guy, who would we expect to close? Perry? Seay?
