Dude, you beat me to it
I know it won’t make Detroitchik happy, but hey, maybe now we can keep Grandy.
I'll take anything
If we can keep Grandy.
President, Vice President and Secretary of the Casey Crosby Fanclub.
I don't remember who first used it, but I think whoever coined the nickname thought he looked like Ron Howard

Yeah, that's the story behind it.
Arsed if I can remember who said it first.

You can Google search ANY site
Just search for “your terms here site:whatever.com” without the quotes. All I did for that was search on “opie site:blessyouboys.com” and set the date range.

As posted on ESPN
Nick Pietruszkiewicz:
Meanwhile, Buster Olney says for the Yankees to get Granderson, it will cost Phil Hughes and Austin Jackson.
From Peter Gammons: To get Curtis Granderson, the Tigers asked the Cubs for Starlin Castro and two prospects. The Cubs considered that to be too high a price.
Good to see them asking for a lot.
Not enough, IMHO
Though I’m a bit red-in-the-eyes-raging about this possibility. However those deals have to change by virtue of the Everett signing, I imagine.

not necessarily
Castro is the Cubs top prospect, for the most part, so DD could simply be gunning for best possible package, as Daniel Fields is several years away anyways. The Yankees also don’t really have a shortstop worth discussing in a trade, so it wouldn’t have been a factor there.
what it does mean, though
is that there’s no need for a stopgap shortstop player/prospect type as a part of a package.
I would be actually stunned if the Yankees make that deal.
And the Cubs refuse to trade Castro. Someone else (Angels?) may still be part of this.
Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi think they are
The Angels, that is. I still don’t care for what they have to offer in terms of Grandy’s value.

Now that Figgins is gone
I really can’t see the Angels putting together a package. Aybar probably doesn’t get moved, as he might be their default leadoff option now, and Wood finally has a place to play. They have limited payroll flexibility (I think one rumor put it at 12 million) and they have other needs in the OF, rotation, pen, that I think they would almost have to give Wood a look to save them money.
Without Aybar/Wood, the capability to put a really intriguing package together diminishes greatly. There’s some interesting arms, like Reckling, but it’s hard for me to see a package there that would be worth it for you guys.
unless they forked over one of their young starters
which I can’t really see
Wow.
I guess when your only choice is the Tigers or a non-contender like Pittsburgh, you take what you’re offered.
That contract is incredibly good for the Tigers.
I’m so surprised to see Everett sign for so much less than predicted.
Everett said he loved it here a couple times on FSD
Could have been a combination of “I’m not playing in Pittsburgh, where players go to die.” and “Sure, I’ll stick around and still bring home $1m to Mrs. Everett.”
