'Eastbound & Down' Tonight on HBO

Anyone planning on watching Eastbound & Down tonight on HBO?  If you're not familiar with it, it's a half-hour comedy starring Danny McBride (Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder) about an ex-big league pitcher who's become a substitute gym teacher back home in North Carolina.  Will Ferrell and Adam McKay produce the show.

Here's a behind-the-scenes clip, and you might get a kick out of Ferrell's visor:

10:30 p.m. EST tonight on HBO, if that looks good to you.

The show looks awesome. I only wish I had HBO (not work the fees), but I imagine “someone” I know will download it. From the torrents.

Danny McBride is funny in all 3 movies I’ve seen him in (Hot Rod, Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express). And plus, the Will Ferrell/Adam McKay combo is gold (Anchorman = one of the greatest comedic films of all time).

Well.........

It’s not exactly a baseball show or a show about baseball, if you know what I mean being on HBO at 10:30 pm. Still, there probably a few Kenny Powers running around out there.

Eh....

Well, I watched it and I have to say I’m not sold. Will Ferrell’s debut will bring me back again next week, but I think this show is a little over the top with the F bombs and pathetically obsessed principle. I’m willing to give it a couple more shots. I will admit, it has lots of promise and being “about baseball” is always a plus.
