Magglio Ordonez's support of Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez doesn't go over very well with some of his countrymen, judging by the boos he received in Miami during the World Baseball Classic. However, Ordonez told SI.com's Jon Heyman that he won't change his political views.

Not to cross sead Baseball with the IRL, but

Maybe Mag’s is shacking up with Milka Duno?

Yes, most of you will need to google her, as nobody watches the best racing in the US anymore (and unfortunately, she gets to drive in the series secondary to Hugo paying the bills…..).

Chavez and the Venezuelan gov’t come to Magglio’s defense, according to this article.

Interested in how this might play out in terms of Magglio’s popularity in Detroit, his association with Chavez wasn’t something I knew about, and I count myself a political junkie…

Maggs

Enjoys talking politics although he said baseball and politics don’t mix. Remember when he won the batting crown, Hugo made a personal phone of congratulatiing him.
