Tigers Reassign Six Players to Minors
Per Jason Beck via Twitter, the Detroit Tigers passed out minor league assignments to six players this morning.
Catcher Alex Avila and shortstop Cale Iorg were reassigned to minor league camp. Pitcher Chris Lambert, infielder Michael Hollimon, and outfielder Casper Wells were dispatched to Triple-A Toledo. And pitcher Zach Simons was assigned to Double-A Erie.
The cuts leave the Tigers with 49 players remaining in major league camp.

Simons and Wells
This is news I like to see. Wells was a beast in Erie, and Simons put up some solid numbers in Lakeland. I think Wells will do fine in Toledo, but I’m really curious whether Simons will repeat his success in Erie. His Lakeland numbers are way better than his numbers in Colorado’s system, and I wonder how much the improvement is from moving from what is likely to be a hitters league (The California League, which shares territory with the PCL) to a pitcher’s league (Florida State League). His numbers were trending better before we got him, though, so maybe the improvement is partially real.
I don't want to hear any weak sh*t from Jason Grilli.
Hollimon and Lambert aren't exactly spring chickens...
this team needs to re-stock it’s 40 man roster with some youth in the minors. guys like Hollimon, Clevlen, Lambert, etc all need to either prove their worth or move on so more youth can have a chance.
