BYB Fantasy League Update

Clearly, I underestimated the appetite for fantasy baseball within the BYB community.  Call me naive, but I figured we'd get a few requests, and I'd have to plead for another one or two guys to fill out a league.

As it turns out, enough people wanted in to fill two leagues, so I think that's what we're going to do.  Two 12-team leagues, rather than one uber-league and turning some people away at the door.  And after doing a draft with ESPN this weekend with Blake, I'm pretty happy with that operation, so maybe we'll go with them instead of Yahoo.  If anyone has some strong opinions on the matter, please express them in the comments.

Also, if you were interested but didn't bother saying so because you thought it was too late, we have some more room now, so if you want to play, send me an e-mail today.  But we're cutting it off at the end of the business day (whenever I go to sleep tonight), and we may have to put up that velvet rope after a few requests.

Otherwise, thanks to everyone who wants to play.  I think we'll have a lot of fun.  I'll try to get everything set up and send out the invites in the next day or two.

EDIT: Dirk, I don't have your e-mail address.  Send me a note, if you want to play.  Hopefully, you see this.

ESPN vs Yahoo

I like Yahoo’s baseball setup and haven’t used ESPN’s fantasy stuff for baseball yet.

I do like the fact that there is free live scoring on ESPN, whereas with Yahoo it’s $10. I’ll be paying the $10 for another league that I’m in anyway, but for everyone else ESPN might be the better bet. I like their football and basketball setups.

So I’m fine either way.

I would prefer Yahoo, as I have other league’s, so it would be one stop shopping for me, BUT I’m in either way.

ESPN v Yahoo

ESPN standard scoring starts about 5,000 guys per team, but I like the free live scoring. Either way, I’d love to be a part of it.

ESPN

I think ESPN has a much better setup than they used to. I used to side with Yahoo but ESPN really got their act together.

Also, I suggest people check out the “Auction Draft” function they have. I tried it out and it is just TONS of fun. Ian and I didn’t do it in our other league but I wish we would have.

You can go here and just try it out. It temporarily puts you in a league and lets you draft a team using the auction style. I would LOVE it if at least one of these could use that function. Try and out and see what you think.

Auction drafts are a ton of fun, but in a large group of people that don’t know each other… it’s not quite the same.

Auction

I think it would still be really fun. Just my two cents. Plus, we’ll get to know each other as the season moves along. Should make for some good banter.

ESPN’s isn’t bad, but I prefer Yahoo simply because that’s what I’m used to.

Of course, I want to play. Just send you an email.
As I mentioned in the first BYB Fantasy League Thread I prefer ESPN with its Points scoring and free Live Scoring over Yahoo.
