This Week's Poll: Will Thames Be a Tiger?

An already crowded outfield situation became even more so, with today's trade that brought Josh Anderson over from the Atlanta Braves.  There's no question of whether or not he'll be on the team.  Anderson is out of minor league options, and Dave Dombrowski said he'll be on the 25-man roster that opens the season next week in Toronto.

So who does this bump off the roster?  Ryan Raburn and Clete Thomas will likely go to the minors.  Perhaps Jeff Larish will, too.  Brent Clevlen is probably done, as he's out of options.  But what about Marcus Thames?  The Tigers have been trying to trade him, and if they cut him by Wednesday, they'll save close to $2 million.

That brings us to this week's poll question:

Will Marcus Thames be a Detroit Tiger as of April 3, 2009?

Your comments on the subject are also welcome.  You can find the poll on the right sidebar below the FanPosts block.  Or you can vote here.  And if you have suggestions for future poll questions, shoot me an e-mail

I'm going to say last week's poll was our first close one.  The winner was still kind of decisive, but less so than in past weeks.  One of these days, I'll think of the right question to charge up the competition.

If Nate Robertson is the fifth starter, how does that make you feel?

31%  Relieved

46%   Disappointed

13%   Enraged

Why Thames?????

…..What has raburn done???? At least Thames can knock it out of the park when you need him too……Im not saying Raburn isnt a good ball player but as far as a bench player with pop…..Thames is your man…..You needa guy like him.

I love Marcus, but its not about Raburn, I think its about Larish. Larish is younger, cheaper, more versatile, and is a lefty with power potential.

It’s sad, but Marcus will most likely get cut. Hopefully this means someone will pick him up and he’ll finally get the playing time he deserves.

His chances just improved

With today’s Sheffield news, I’d say his chances just improved immensely…
