Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

I'll have more on this later, as I've gotten a chance to read up on it. But as rings posted in today's Game Recap, and MSU4LIF passed along to me in an e-mail, former Tigers pitcher Mark Fidrych was found dead this afternoon, after an apparent accident on his farm in Massachusetts.

Thanks to Eric Stephen for first posting this news in a FanPost.

Oh, no!

Condolences

What a sad week this has been for baseball.

RIP Nick Adenhart.

A Gentleman

When I was just a boy, Mark Fidrych entertained my interview request for a “school project” I was working on… right on the spot! Then, as a young man, he entertained another random phone call where I asked if I could send him two baseballs to be autographed for my dad and father-in-law for Father’s Day. “The Bird” will certainly be missed. Today’s stars aren’t nearly as accessible or cordial, and for that I thank him.

Wow

I just watched a game of his against the Yankees on MLB Network dubbed “The Bird Dazzles the Yankees.” He was always my dad’s favorite pitcher because of his delivery and personality, of course this meant that he was one of my favorite pitchers growing up even though I was too young to ever see him play. Sad day indeed.

I've only seen highlights as I'm too young,

but my dad would always speak so highly of the guy. I used to talk to myself when I pitched and the first person I thought of was the Bird and the stories my dad would tell me. RIP Bird.
