"Does anyone think the Nationals and the Rangers miss Armando Galarraga (a five A player)? With his 6 1/3 shutout innings against the White Sox Wednesday afternoon, Galarraga owns a 15-7 record with a 3.52 ERA since joining the Tigers. Right now, there’s nothing outstanding about his career K, BB and HR, but they’re improving this season. If he actually makes the leap to better control and a better strikeout rate, more in line with his minor league numbers, both his former teams will be kicking themselves."

I think they should both go ahead and start kicking themselves.
Either of those teams could use a solid starter like Galarraga. Few teams couldn’t.

5-A?
Okay, I’ve heard of a 4-A or quad-A player, but what is “a five-A player” supposed to mean?

Yeah, I don’t know if it was a reference to the number of a’s in Galarraga’s name or what. If you included his first name, he’d actually be a “six-a” player.
