Game 32 Overflow Thread

Ladies and gentlemen of the BYB Bunch, welcome to a special night.  Since I've been running BYB (since 2007), we've never had enough comments on a game night to warrant an overflow thread.  That seal has now been broken.

Thank you, Dontrelle Willis?

Tigers 9, Twins 7 in the 8th inning.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of the Bless You Boys writing staff.

I don't get any readers

otherwise I’d say it was alllll because of me linking to your blog and telling people to join the best Tigers fans on earth in your game thread haha

OK, so if you're the scorekeeper

which Tigers pitcher is slotted for the win right now?

by Kurt Mensching on May 13, 2009 11:05 PM EDT reply actions

is it Seay

or does Miner scoop up the vulture win

i’d think Seay, right?

by ahtrap on May 13, 2009 11:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Seay I believe . . .

Even though he blew a lead, they had regained it by the time he pitched again.

by TennesseeYooper on May 13, 2009 11:06 PM EDT up reply actions

I'd guess

Seay the win, Zumaya the hold right now.

definitely

Zoom is one of the key cogs, Lyon isn’t. Zoom has to get that out.

by ThaWalrus9 on May 14, 2009 12:04 AM EDT up reply actions

I don't put TOO much blame on him

how often you think a guy fresh off the bench is a) going to catch up to 100 mph b) even swing at the first pitch? I mean a little more focus on that first pitch still would have been nice

by Detroit4lyfe on May 14, 2009 12:06 AM EDT up reply actions

I'm not blaming him...

I love Zoom and he’d get that out 9 times out of 10. But it’s still the turning point. Not anything that Lyon does.

http://tigersamateuranalysis.blogspot.com

by SabreRoseTiger on May 14, 2009 12:07 AM EDT up reply actions

not blaming him either

he wasn’t going to allow zero runs for the year, but that was definitely the key at bat, if they lose.

by ThaWalrus9 on May 14, 2009 12:08 AM EDT up reply actions

I mean he's to blame

he gave it up didn’t he? I guess I was just saying I wouldn’t hold it against him…for too long. And you’re right, he was due to give up some runs. Really, that was just an unlucky break in a situation where you don’t expect a guy fresh off the bench to swing first pitch and hit a 100+MPH pitch over the fence… tough break

by Detroit4lyfe on May 14, 2009 12:10 AM EDT up reply actions

dagnabit, gotta go run an errand….hope y’all are still around when I get back…well, unless the Tigers ahve won it by then….should have done this in the 7th inning…

SO...

We really need the win tomorrow. Twins are only one game back now.

Worst loss in a long time.

Zoom blew a lead.

What seemed like dozens of double plays.

A completely inexplicable intentional walk that moved the winning run to second base.

Followed by a standard walk to load the bases.

Followed by a completely predictable grand slam by a guy who hits .800 against us.

A complete nuking of virtually the entire bullpen.

An almost assured loss tommorrow.

The last 28 hours have sucked. Bad.

The intentional walk didn't move the winning run to second...

Mauer hit into a force that moved Tolbert to second. It makes sense to walk Morneau there.

We have the ace going for us tomorrow.

So I’m holding out hope.

Dear Justin Verlander:

Complete game shutout tomorrow, if you please. Or at least pitch a gem. Thank you.

Well, good mornin, y'all

Got to work today, so will DVR the game. The last 2 times I did this, I got to come home and enjoy the afterglow. I was sleeping when the blowup occured with Maggs, but the umpire cannot touch the player. He better get disciplined.

Everything sure got lost in the D-Train’s first start (when was that?) As usual, Leyland wasn’t too high on the outing. He doesn’t trust him, I tell ‘ya. I honestly believe he’s uncomfortable with D’s loosy goosy ways on the mound. He should have left him out there to finish the inning. We gotta win today! Lynn Henning might just be regetting that column he wrote the other day if we lose another one.

"It's designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything is new again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops, and leaves you to face the fall alone". A. Bartlett Giamatti
