Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, it's a done deal if Jake Peavy agrees to waive his no-trade clause.

No word yet on who the Padres would receive in return from the White Sox.

EDIT: Just noticed that explosivo2k2 posted this in the FanShots, as well. Glad he's on it.

I REALLY hope he doesn't wave it

The Tigs have a tough enough time in Chicago.

In other news: the Twins finally dumped the worst pitcher ever in Craig Breslow…who was promptly picked up by Oakland.

intrigued to see how it works out

Peavy is good, and should remain good in either league, but you have to think he’s going to look a bit more human when his starts aren’t against Cincy, San Fran, the Dbacks, and even the Cubs, all of whom are in the lower half of runs scored in the national league.

Chicago’s taking a bit of a risk here I’d say. I’d prefer Peavy stay in the NL, but this doesn’t worry me greatly.

A ChiSox shot over the Tigers' bow?

The Tigers look legit, and the road to the Central Division title may run through Detroit. The rest of the Central is now realizing it.

Kurt makes a good point. Peavy was a stud in what is the pop gun junior varsity league when compared to the loaded with big offense AL.

found the timing funny

One day after it looks like the Tigers acquired a starting pitcher for nothing (Dontrelle) the White Sox have a deal with the Pads….

Peavy

Those who say pitching in the NL made him look better has obviously never seen him pitch. The guy has amazing stuff, former Cy Young award winner. Pitching in a “pitchers park” doesn’t matter when you strike out 240 major leaguers in one season. If he’s right, this could get scary.

ABC baby, always be closing.

Blocked, blocked, blocked

Peavy says thanks, but no thanks to Chicago. I wouldn’t want to work with Ozzie or Pierzynski neither.
