New to Comerica/Detroit
I'm a Brewers fan going to Comerica on Saturday for the matchup. What are some essentials I need to know? My seats are in the left field bleachers.
Are there some good restaurants or bars nearby?
Is tailgating an option?
Anything else I'm forgetting?
Thanks in advance for the advice.
Apparently my fanpost must be 75 words long, so I will type a sentence (or maybe two sentences) describing my frustration with the 75 word requirement. Or maybe I will not.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of the Bless You Boys writing staff.

Oh yea, who’s going to be taking the hill for the Tigers?

That's a very good question. Porcello tonight
and then Armando Galaragga tomorrow or Saturday. Willis will not be pitching this weekend, so we need someone to replace him. I think you might be facing either Armando, Zach Miner, or Luke French.
I’m sure someone knows more than me.
Galarraga is starting Friday
and most likely Verlander Sunday.

On a side note
This will hopefully be a fun series. We get baby Fielder in our yard for a few days!
Maybe Braun and Fielder can just cool it down for a few days though, that’d be nice.
In response to your question
When I go to games, I stop off at Hockeytown, which is a cool little restaurant/bar. It’s almost literally across the street from the park. Someone from the area probably has more ideas.
Bars
I like The Detroiter Bar (just map it, it’s within walking distance)….The Old Shillalegh is popular and just down the street but the last few times I’ve gone there someone I was with got into a fight or got kicked out (probably more to do with some of my friends than the actual bar).
Hockeytown is popular, but very expensive…be warned. Cheli’s Chili is a good alternative.
The Detroit Brewery is a little further away but there is a People Mover transit system to use if you don’t feel like walking.
Also
The State Bar, right across from Comerica is a great option. I like it

Restaurants
There’s a plethora of restaurants nearby. Maybe you have some ideas what you’re looking for?
Eating Options
Greektown has some great restaurants (New Parthenon or Golden Fleece) there are also a couple of great pizza joints in Greektown. Also Mexican town (Mexican Village or Los Galanes). Very casual and tasty is either Lafayette Coney Island or American Coney Island (right next to each other- where Lafayette, Michigan and Griswold meet) Cass Cafe is nice. Traffic Jam & Snug is very eclectic. Circa 1890 Saloon on Wayne State Campus has great burgers, and dollar beers on Friday nights. Slows BBQ on Michigan -great BBQ (try the Yardbird – outstanding sandwich) and of course there’s Always Nemo’s Saloon on Michigan (which for a small fee will take you from the Pub directly to the ballpark) No drinking and driving worries. Some of these places have Websites so you can check out the menus on line and then decide… Enjoy Detroit. AND DON’T FORGET THE CAMERA> WE HAVE A GRET SKYLINE. :o)

The Detroit visitors' bureau should use this post
Man, those are some great recommendations.
I love Traffic Jam & Snug. And Slows is fantastic.

Thanks Ian
As you can tell, I like it downtown… I actually live about 10 mins. from the ballpark. I also wanted to tell you I have enjoyed posting on here so much. The gang is great and its nice to have other people who actually care about the Tigers, like me.

I love the
Circa. Good food. Nice atmosphere. Cheap Beers and a Jukebox that hasn’t been updated in more than 20 yrs.

Detroiter is where its at.
I personally like the Detroiter for pre-game activities. (Tagne13 beat me to this, but i will post anyway). It’s within walking distance of the stadium, and if the stars align in your favor there is free parking at greektown casino (this is becoming less frequent on game nights though).
Good selection of beer, and one of my favorite burgers in the city, the Detroiter Burger. Half pound pattie, bacon, ham, two kinds of cheese, with french fries and a beer for around 9 bucks. You eat that and then go to the game and you’re talking about a great evening if you ask me. If I get outta of there a little too early I’ll shoot over to the State bar (attached to Fillmore Detroit across from the stadium) and have a few more beers as well.
I realize this post makes it sound like i’m using Tigers games as an excuse to tie one on (recent batting performance would dictate needing alcohol to watch the games), but its all about making a good evening and saving some money so I’m not enticed to eat/drink once i’m in the stadium.
Yes I noticed that about the parking too
In May (twins) I went and we went right through for free, no questions asked. A couple weeks ago (BoSox) I went and we had to pay $10.
What gives? I reasoned it was because of the opponent.
If you can't park in the garage at Greektown
Parking is free on the street after 6. I’ve never had any problems with people bothering my car (ever). When I get there early I meter up for about an hour and half (.25 for 20 mins) Also for day games I park in the Trolley Plaza Garage anytime $6. (On Washington Blvd@ Clifford) It’s a block off of Woodward and just about 2 blocks from the ballpark, best kept secret downtown.

I'm a local...
…and even I found all these posts to be helpful, as most of the time I am downtown its for work. I am drawing a blank on the name of this restaurant, it’s across the street from the Magic Stick, but it had a great steak sandwich that I would recommend to anyone. So, if someone could inject the name that would be helpful. Plus, they had a decent selection of beer on-tap.
Maybe it was
the Union Street Saloon? I forgot about that place, a good place to eat and hang

That's it...thank you
Had the Manchego Bistro Steak Sandwich when I was there and it was delicious.
