brandon lyon
everyone was ganging up on him before. I’ll throw out some stats that will impress some people and hopefully change their view on our most important player out of the bullpen.
3 ER over the last 33 innings pitched.
During that time, his ERA went from 6.43 to 2.95 that it is currently at.
18 hits during that time also, for a .54xx WHIP.
27 K’s to only 10 BB’s. He’s got his control working, which can’t be said about most relievers we have.

Great Information
I’ll admit that I was one of the first guys to call for his head, but now I’ll definitely tip my hat to the guy as he has taken over as the best we have out of the bullpen. Incredible turnaround. And good for Lyon too, as I’m sure hes quickly garnering some respect from fans (which still has to be tough to do after his cringe inducing start of the season).
WOW
I knew he was steadily doing great work but this is amazing to look at. The Cowardly Lyon does not exist, apparently.
I agree with everything above.
I thought that DD had been snowed when he go Lyon for the season, but after a terrible start he has turned into a truly efficient pitcher. He has filled in for Zumaya as the set up man for Rodney and I now look forward to seeing him come in and take the life out of opposing lineups.
made 1 mistake
The WHIP is supposed to be .84xx, on account of 10 walks.
Under 1.0000 is still fantastic though, especially for a bullpen pitcher whose job it is to not allow base runners.
He should close for us next year
Cheaper option, more flexibility- he can relinquish the role to Ryan Perry when Perry gets his control worked out.
President, Vice President and Secretary of the Casey Crosby Fanclub.
He’s making me look very smart for taking his side and telling people to relax before jumping down his neck when he struggled out of the gate. I’ve told a few people this, but I met him during the Pittsburgh series and he gave me an awesome quote, “I only care about three things: Family, the Tigers, and beer.” He’s legit – good or bad. Being our most consistent reliever over the past few months obviously raises his stock.
