Signing Deadline Open Thread
Major league teams have until midnight tonight to sign this year's first-round draft picks. The Tigers still have yet to sign their first two selections, pitchers Jacob Turner and Andrew Oliver.
But several other picks (eight, to be exact) also remain unsigned, including their sixth-round pick, shortstop Daniel Fields, who's trying to decide between the Tigers and the University of Michigan.
Any news or opinion about draft pick signings can be posted here. Not all of these negotiations will be taken to the midnight hour, will they?

Are those first two even close?
I heard them mention the deadline over the weekend, but the last time I remember any draft pick not signing fairly early it was Justin Verlander. I think in that case Verlander’s Dad ended up saying enough is enough and they fired his agent. Maybe I’m remembering that wrong, but since then I don’t recall them having any trouble in this department. Hopefully this isn’t a sign that Illitch will have no money to spend in the offseason.
We'll be fine
Offers are on the table, Fields/Turner/Oliver just went in for physicals today (per Beck), which is a reasonably good sign.

Keith Law on ESPN is saying
that he is hearing many reports of deals agreed to by “unsigned first rounders” that are being kept under wraps by MLB to prevent players/agents from using those deals as leverage. Hopefully, Boras isn’t too distracted from trying to get Strasburg a 10% ownership of the Nats to take Dombrowski’s phone calls to get Turner signed.
I've heard from Gammons that Turner is locked in at 6.7 mil and Oliver at 1 mil
That was a few hours ago in the Minor League Ball open thread, so it could be outdated.

Thrilled
That’s 1.2 mil less for Turner than reported, and .5 more for Oliver (or Fernando Rodney, Jr., as I like to call him). Good savings of .7 mil.
