Game 118 Afterglow Thread
C'mon - how much fun was that?
This one had a little bit of everything. Good starting pitching. A meltdown by the bullpen. A comeback ignited by Tiger Town's newest hero. Some trickeration to steal a run. (How fast did you go from "No!" to "Yes!" on that play?)
And finally, an epic 12-pitch battle to end the game between Jose Lopez and Fernando Rodney.
Nothing like a comeback win during a pennant race to make a baseball fan feel alive!
Tigers win, 5-3! Enjoy the afterglow.

Chone Figgins is a free agent this offseason. He’s been playing 3B for the Angels, but he can play the outfield. I wonder how much he’ll fetch.

Don’t count chickens before they are hatched, don’t assume a double play, and don’t toss a win in the standings before the last out of the game.

See, I'm of the opposite opinion
I can’t stand him largely because he’s a Twin, which means he does a great deal of his damage against us. As a Yankee, he wouldn’t do as much damage to us and would actually be in a position to help us out on most nights, if the Yankees happen to play someone else in the Central or a Wild Card team.

Pudge
can always be worn. I see people all over Comerica in Pudge shirts. Maggs will always be a wearer too. Well, mine ill be. You see more Maggs and Cabrera than any others

When I went to the Fiesta Tigres game last year (about 10 days after Pudge got traded)
I saw a woman wearing a Pudge jersey and she had attached a broken heart to the back of it.

Oops, I did not see your question until now.
It’s a Pudge jersey. I bought it in ‘07. It now holds a place of honor just outside my closet. I also have a Pudge T-shirt, and I’m trying to find a Verlander T-shirt that looks like it (minus the World Series patch on the sleeve, of course), and that is where I fail.
Right now, my main shirt is gray with blue three-quarter sleeves with “Tigers” written across the front and a small Olde English D underneath.

Got lucky and scored a heavily discounted Kaline '68 on auction.
I only get jerseys of guys who are retired for fear that they leave. I have Kaline and Tram.

Any chance we can trade for Markakis?
I’m kidding, of course. No way the O’s let him go. But what a ballplayer that kid is.

General lack of meaningful recent production...
but it’s rumored that the front office is greasing the skids for his exit after the season. Too bad. The guy has done nothing to deserve it.

hello my dears!
Nice to se that we won—and in dramatic fashion! The Astros are in fact the Crapstros, so I was very happy to be getting Tigers updates throughout the game!

It looks as though he's got his old number back.
David Murphy has gone from wearing 7 to wearing 14. I’m kinda glad about that. It just seemed wrong for some reason to see him wearing 12. Or 77, for that matter.

Who were they playing?
And yes, excellent win for us :)

They were playing the Florida Marlins.
(I like the Marlins more, so I wasn’t very enthusiastic in my cheering!)

but bummer that you missed Pudge :(

I've been to four Tigers games in my life
I got to see Pudge play ONCE, and it was the first game I went to. In the second game, he was a late scratch with an ankle injury (though we were up in the suites right above the Tigers dugout, so I could see him the whole time). The third game I went to was about ten days after he got traded, and then I went to the game this year.

I've watched the Cabrera hit replay a few times now.
The first time I was wondering who they had doing play-by-play, but it was just Mario’s deeply intense voice.

I was sitting by the bullpen once, watching him warm up
some Tigers fan on the skywalk was yelling down at him, it was funny as hell. He was rattling off his whole bio, back to high school and stuff. Nathan just looked up and smiled and started laughing.

WHY does MLB network tease me so mercilessly?
They appear to show a lot of the Tigers’ Thursday day games….you know, when I’m at work, far away from my TV? And none of the ones that I can actually catch….
