Get to the Park Early, Tigers Fans

For those of you heading out to Comerica Park this afternoon to catch the Tigers and Rays, the team advises you to get out there early to avoid some possible traffic jams.

The Lions' third preseason game will be played at the adjacent Ford Field at 1 p.m., which means you might be running into departing crowds if you arrive at the ballpark near the Tigers' 4:05 p.m. start.  But hey, if the Colts run out to a big lead over the Lions, maybe people will be leaving earlier.  Unless they want to see Matthew Stafford in action.

Anyway, as a public service for the people of Tiger Town, we're passing along the message.  The Tigers are encouraging fans to arrive at the CoPa around 3 p.m.  Gates will open at 2:30 p.m.  And if you need a little extra motivation to get there early, the first 7.500 fans 14 and younger get a Curtis Granderson replica glove.  Do it for your kid.

I suck at remembering times of games.

I had no idea it was an afternoon game today – but that means I can see part of it before the Loons game tonight (in which they can clinch a playoff spot, as their magic number is now ONE!!1)

They won their last two games 10-0 and 8-0, so watch them do something silly like lose 11-0 to make up for the previous good pitching and excellent offense. :D

You know what sucks?

Major League freaking Baseball. FOX. Selig. ERRGH!

I hate Saturdays baseball. Cubs game of course, because they aren’t on the telly ever other day of the week.

It's baffling

If FOX wants the New York and Chicago markets, why not broadcast Yankees-White Sox? At least that game means something.

my working theory

FOX is kind of stupid.

Sigh

Is it a testament to how badly this new software system has gone at work that I would rather watch Nate Robertson (no matter what happens) than go to work and close? I may be able to listen to a few seconds here and there on the radio, but that’s it.

There isn't enough money in the world

that would get me to go anywhere near downtown this afternoon. It’s gonna be a mess.

I went to the game a couple weeks ago where the Lions played before the Tigers game and it didn't seem that bad

However:

A) The Lions game started at 4:00, and the Tigers game was at 7:00, so maybe that made a difference,

B) I’m not in Detroit often enough to have a basis of comparison

C) The scalpers/people begging for tickets were really annoying

Where can I find whether I might get to see the Tigers on Madison's fox station?

google has failed me today

On another note, were we slated to face Kazmir on Sunday or were we going to miss him anyway?

answers:

foxsports.com/mlb has a listing. Green Bay gets the Cubs so I imagine you do too.

kazmir would have missed the series anyway, he pitched the previous game to the tigers series.

yep, I get Mets- scrubs

boo fox
At least it makes sense this time, market wise (Chicago). Not so much in terms of teams that matter anymore this season.

While I am normally fine with that I hate not getting the Tigers.

Following the White Sox-Yankees game on MLB At-Bat app

This is the most confusing-sounding play ever (quoting Gameday verbatim):

“Johnny Damon reaches on a fielder’s choice, fielded by pitcher Jose Contreras. Johnny Damon to second. Derek Jeter advances to 3rd, on throwing error by pitcher Jose Contreras. Derek Jeter advances to 3rd, on throwing error by second baseman Jayson Nix.”

How does Derek Jeter advance on two different errors?

At any rate, it seems to have opened the floodgates for the Yankees.

That's like the listing I saw for the Mets/Cubs on some web site

which made it look like they were playing a doubleheader, one game starting at 4 PM, the second game starting at 4:10.

Liking this 8-0 lead the Yankees have put up thru 4 innings.

Have you tried Panoramio? It’ll put pictures Google Earth, so people can see them when they’re snooping around the area’s satellite photos.

My friend brought his fishing boat up to Michigan Tech, so I hope go during our spring breaks.

so what about swimming

I love walking along a lakeshore when the water is angry and the waves are crashing. (I also love thunderstorms with a lot of lightning, so apparently I have a serious thing for violent weather.) :)
