Bondo Nixing the Change-Up, Liking the Split-Finger
"This is something to watch, because it's a pitch Bonderman likes to throw - after never liking the change. He won't be back with the Tigers for a while, but when he returns, it will be with a new pitch."

On the topic of pitching
Nice write-up on Rick Knapp in today’s Wall Street Journal.
Talks about the varying approaches he’s taken with the different guys on the staff, including how he handled JV during the first-inning blow-up on Monday. Ironically, Knapp talks down the split-fingered fastball in the piece:
"If you spread your first two fingers out and extend your arm as you throw the ball as hard as you can, that doesn’t feel real good," he says.

So, he dropped the change-up during his rehabilitation stint in favor of a pitch that few people throw because of the damage it causes to the elbow?
Cool…
