Game 108 Post-Game Thread
Just in case you want or need to talk about tonight's game or what else is going on in the AL Central.
Tigers win, 10-8, over the Twins. Fernando Rodney is sweating up a storm in the clubhouse during post-game interviews.

I dont like how much they are talking up verlander
about how they just assume he’s gonna be perfect tomorrow. jinx for days
Do you get the feeling Avila shaved this morning?
And that’s what his face looks like by 11 pm?

I haven't
But Homer Simpson also had such an issue.

he's seems to be swinging
way better than anyone else we’ve had in the 3 spot

Is it safe to talk about Rios now?
From mlbtraderumors:
“10:02pm: Olney is now reporting that the White Sox “are most likely the team awarded claim on Rios,” however the Jays have yet to confirm it."
Guess that ties their money up for a while.
Yes, it is now safe to talk about Rios
And thank you for acknowledging (or bothering to read) that others posted something about his waiver claim.

what is going to be even sadder
than the money they spent, is when they lose the division anyway….
Welcome to Detroit>>Where the weak are killed and eaten.
But did they claim him...
To block him from the Tigers?
by Ian Casselberry on Aug 7, 2009 11:07 PM EDT up reply actions
then
that’s even more pathetic than my original statement
Welcome to Detroit>>Where the weak are killed and eaten.
I believe Toronto could just say, “Okay, take him then.”

I think Dombrowski could say the same thing.
Although he’s probably saying it with a little more confidence after the last couple games.
how quickly we forget
the inconsistency in our offense, not me, not yet. They need to win a few more by more than 1 run for me to let it go.
Welcome to Detroit>>Where the weak are killed and eaten.
I'm going to bed too.
final thoughts: Good win tonight. Good to see Avila having early success up here and giving us some spark. Its really nice to see the Tigers scoring runs. Enjoy the game tomorrow everybody. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch the end again.
Night.

^12 no score… this thing could go on all night
Welcome to Detroit>>Where the weak are killed and eaten.
my friend in iraq I mentioned last night
is a yanks fan and his internet sucks.. I’m giving him lazy play by play :)
It's kind of ironic in a sad sort of way
they deserve each other.
Welcome to Detroit>>Where the weak are killed and eaten.
Well last night the final was 6-13
So I guess it’s fitting that this one be extremely low-scoring?

Very handsome and interesting woman on Bill Moyers
but I admit I like him better when he oh so very politely and gently skewers someone.
Yes, he is.
But he sticks the knife in so cleanly I don’t think most people realize they’ve been wounded.
I wonder how Youk feels playing 3rd
and Martinez playing 1st?
Welcome to Detroit>>Where the weak are killed and eaten.
I'm not interested in this game,
but now I’m invested. I hope the Yanks win it right here so I can go to bed.

either a pretty sight or about to crash into the earth and cause massive destruction?

But...but...
I had higher hopes when they said “streaking Tigers”. Although I would probably be blinded by the white glow of Clete’s butt.
he trys to grab a foul ball over the wall and lands directly on his face
apparently he got to spend some time with Albert Pujols though
there is no god but Avila and Wieters is his prophet
hope that’s not terribly offensive to anyone here
I LOVE that he got a standing ovation for that
imagine Monday at work…
“Hey Bob, saw you on TV Friday. WTF was that about? Didn’t you bring a glove?”
“Shut up Bill. I don’t want to talk about it.”
“But you got a standing O for falling on your face! That was awesome!”
“Shut up Bill.”
at least that’s what it looks like in my head
I'd just like to apologize to all the men
since earlier it was mentioned that the Tigers were being referred to as if they are “pieces of meat,” but come on. Streaking Tigers. How are we going to pass that up?
by kendra.michelle on Aug 7, 2009 11:51 PM EDT reply actions
I don't think we think of them as "pieces of meat"
We would let them talk about baseball after. If they wanted to.
they heard they were keeping you awake

What a game!
Yanks/Red Sox was a great game. What a huge home run for ARod. That’s why he’s one of the all-time greats.
It's raining, it's pouring
lightening and thundering, too, here in south central MI at 10:00 am. Might get the game in tonight and/or might not. Absolutely pouring right now.
"It's designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything is new again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops, and leaves you to face the fall alone". A. Bartlett Giamatti

It’s supposed to move out of the area by mid-afternoon. Maybe it will be fine.

weather underground says Detroit will clear up around 2pm and become partly sunny.
I have my doubts, but let’s not give up hope
I was thinking of leaving it up until first pitch tonight
That had some impressive life to it.

Ooooh, I think we’ll have to use that.
But what’s the opposite, for when we want to fume about a loss?
