Game 109 Overflow Thread
It may be "Fiesta Tigres" night at Comerica Park, but the only team having a fiesta on the field is the Minnesota Twins. It's an ugly night at the ballpark.
Twins 8, Tigers 0 in the bottom of the seventh.

You kiddies in front of your comps remember one thing
You could have it worse; Im watching this bullshit from the very last row. I’d leave but my friends want to stay for the fireworks.

I've never been to a big blowout loss and I hope to never go to one...
The worst I’ve been to was a 7-4 Detroit loss a couple years ago. Andrew Miller gave up a grand slam to Juan Uribe

not a very timely tweet, mlive
“Tigers show improvement against AL Central foes ”http://bit.ly/10TQrk" target="_blank">http://bit.ly/10TQrk"
I swear...
Our earned run average against Minnesota this year has to be, like, 48.27
http://tigersamateuranalysis.blogspot.com
I completely missed Raburn coming in
That’s how much attention I’m paying by now.
Also, OMFG-er, OMFA-Denard Span.
Wonder if Cabrera's hurting?
He usually isn’t pulled in blowout games. And considering the circumstances, I’d’ve thought Leyland would take Inge out.

I feel your pain brother
At least you’ve probably got a better seat than me, ha ha ha

I should have stayed on the elliptical.
Lack of oxygen and energy is better than this. Or at least more beneficial, anyway.
Hmmm
My MLB At-Bat app hasn’t refreshed in quite a while. It still says 3-0 Twins.

The thought just occured to me...
It may be late August before I actually see Jarrod Washburn in a Tigers uniform. I missed his last start, I have to work tomorrow and will likely miss the whole game, and I believe I work on Friday, which is his start after that.
http://tigersamateuranalysis.blogspot.com
He did well against the Orioles prior to last time, though.

it brings up an important question
when you see wtf do you read “w. t. f.” or “what the f***” in your head?
by Kurt Mensching on Aug 8, 2009 9:27 PM EDT up reply actions
For some reason
I think of Benicio Del Toro in The Usual Suspects saying “What the f***” with that accent of his

I was confused because Mario said Marcus was hitting in place of Curtis but then Santiago came up. Forgot that Santiago is at 2B in place of Polly instead of SS.

For some reason..
I was under the impression that Marcus was hitting for Guillen

Can we at least score ONE run?
Spare the indignity of being shut out?

New post at D4L if you're interested
Carl Pavano may be able to beat the Tigers but he couldn’t please Alyssa Milano
Thanks to mlb.com's stellar performance tonight
I missed that. Just caught the conversation about it between Rod and Mario.
I would not object to seeing Avila pinch-hit here
I am curious to see if he can hit left-handed pitching
http://tigersamateuranalysis.blogspot.com
So...
Guillen’s hit left-handed against a left-handed pitcher twice now. He’s been hit by a pitch and has walked. Go figure.
http://tigersamateuranalysis.blogspot.com
I just want to avoid the shutout at this point

He needed it

Are you kidding?
There’s always the chance that Leyland will erupt. That’s always entertaining television.

Somehow I doubt that Leyland eats salad after the game
by kendra.michelle on Aug 8, 2009 9:45 PM EDT up reply actions
I specifically remember seeing a salad on his desk after one game

But please, no sweet potato pie.

Good for Jim, eating salad.
Of course whatever health benefits that come from that are surely canceled out by the smoking.
by kendra.michelle on Aug 8, 2009 9:48 PM EDT up reply actions
Can I eat them?
I think I’m slipping back into eat my feelings mode. I’d been out of it for a few days, you know, ’cause the Tigers were winning and stuff.

I think Detroitchik came up with a great headline for the recap
“Too much fiesta, not enough Tigres”
With all the complaining about the offense...
That’s only the third time we’ve been shut out

Highlighting just how terrible the ’stache really is.

He seems disappointed about the game
I do not blame him. And seeing him up close like that makes his facial hair look even worse.

Tigers Live is grasping at straws now
Why would I want to hear from Ron Gardenhire?
http://tigersamateuranalysis.blogspot.com
Yeah, they said they were going to talk to JV
I wouldn’t be surprised If Justin just said “no. I do not want to talk to you.” Plus they talked to Denard Span earlier. Who wants to see that?
by kendra.michelle on Aug 8, 2009 10:15 PM EDT up reply actions
This wasn't even a typical JV-type struggle
Usually when he’s not pitching well, there are a few more walks involved, opposing hitters have very lengthy at-bats, and he ends up throwing a lot of pitches, but that didn’t really happen.
