Around SBN: Two Minutes Of Thunder Basketball Wins The Game

2010 schedule is out. BYB game 4th of July??

How about we plan a great BYB party, and all meet up at the Copa on Forth of July weekend in 2010. This way the out of towners have a 3 day weekend and we can plan a trip in. Watcha all think? Anyone have spare rooms, or connections to a hotel downtown? Suggestions would be great. Locals: anyone have an insider at the box office to book the tickets? Maybe we could split the cost of a party suite?

Coming from Iowa

I like this idea a lot! It takes me about 9 hours to get to Comerica on a good day. Meeting up on a 3 day weekend all of a sudden makes that a possibility for me.

ha - you're a step ahead

I’d discussed with Ian about posting something on the off-day this Monday regarding the meetup. but yeah, this might be a good time to do it.. let’s see what everyone thinks.

Seeing as how the holiday weekend were my first thought, too

I’d second a call for the weekend of the 4th. Would love to see Ichiro play, since the Mariners seem to be on the menu for that time frame.

Not the worst idea ever

I don’t do anything for the 4th anyway, and this may be right before I move out of the Detroit area.

I could go to either the Friday or Saturday night game.

I was just making a list of the 13 home weekend series this season to see which ones might be best for people to attend. In June and July are the Pirates, Diamondbacks, Mariners, Twins, and Blue Jays. I figured June and July might be the best for people traveling, since there are a fair number of teachers and students among the regulars. :)

A holiday weekend (but minor one) might also be good for people to get off from work, since they will be less likely to have to cover for other people taking off as with Thanksgiving or Christmas, but still have a little more time for getting away from regular weekend obligations.

So maybe the Saturday game is the best option.

I would fly into town Sat morning. Hopefully it’s a night game and not a fox game. Maybe I could fly in Friday morning and take a 4 day weekend. Hmmm, gonna haveta try that with the boss.

I could do it

I’m getting married on the 10th, so I’ll definitely be in town that week. Good idea!

Congrats!

Now we all have to bring a small gift.

Well, I couldn't make that one.

Already have the beach house reserved for that week. But it seems like lots of other people could so go for it!

BUT -- I was thinking this morning on the way into work

Some of us who live other places still go home to Michigan at Christmas. I’d love to have us all meet somewhere for lunch or dinner — maybe down by Comerica — some time over that holiday.
