Tigers Lose: Game 147 Thread of Shame
The Detroit Tigers may have arrived in Minneapolis, but their bats sure didn't. Four hits in just over six innings against Brian Duensing (who continues to be outstanding since being added to the Twins' starting rotation). And only one hit against Minnesota's bullpen (amazingly, off Joe Nathan).
Rick Porcello pitched relatively well, giving the Tigers the start they needed. But the kid just got no help from his lineup. Getting just five hits isn't going to be enough on most any night.
So the Twins win the first game of this key weekend series, 3-0. Detroit's lead in the AL Central is now at three games.
Full recap tomorrow. Not much time to wallow with a 4 p.m. EST gametime tomorrow on FOX.

this worked last time we were skidding...
I am not coming to the site tomorrow, nor am I watching the game. Going out to watch msu-notre dame and drink heavily. Avoiding all coverage. Hopefully the boys bring the sticks tomorrow.

I hate these postgame shows on the road
They’re too short.

Just because he wasn't a Tiger the last time we saw Pavano...
In case you’re wondering, Aubrey Huff is 5-for-17 lifetime off Carl Pavano (that’s a .294 average), and one of those hits was a home run.

I suppose I should point out...
…that the home run is the only extra-base hit of the bunch, but he does have 4 RBIs against him as well.

At some point earlier in the season
all I wanted was that the Tigers play meaningful games in September. Guess I got what I wished for.
By the way, Sox lose 11-0
Do you realize Minnesota still has six games left with the Royals? Stay hot, KC, stay hot. And according to Yahoo, if the pitching rotations stay the same, they will get Greinke in BOTH series.

Now that we're done with KC
I hope Greinke gets real hot. The guy will be a man on a mission like no one has ever seen if he can work his way into Cy Young contention, he badly needs some more wins.
I'm also hoping that Tejeda stays as dominant as he was against the Tigers
Hell, Luke Hochevar came into tonight’s game with an ERA of over six and he shut out the White Sox.

how the hell have the Twins missed him all season?
Tigers face him 5 times, Twins 0?
Could be looking at a different dynamic right now. Or maybe not. You never know.

What is Minnesota's record against KC this year?
Sorry, I’m too lazy to look it up right now.

anyone ever see true romance?
Over the opening credits, patricia arquette talks about how when everything is going bad, it seems like it always will. Then she says the money line-every now and then, it goes the other way too. And the voice over is shown over exterior shots of detroit.

Hmmm
My dad was playing iTunes (shuffled) on his computer during the game (same room I was in). Around the top of the eighth inning, “Dust in the Wind” came on and I told him to change the song cuz it was depressing with the visual.

This has been a horrible few weeks.
I’m so depressed. My marriage is in trouble, my finances are in trouble, The only happiness I had was my Tigers. Now they are in trouble. :(
Tammy
i am sorry to hear that.
Maybe jv can lift your spirits tomorrow.

I work 10-6 tomorrow, so I'll miss the majority of the game
I should be able to catch the last two or three innings, but will I want to?
At least Rod’s doing the color commentary.

I like the Dodgers
Maybe I’ll watch them for a while, though I should probably be going to bed. I have to be up at 8 tomorrow.
Right now I have Marc Anthony’s “Dimelo” stuck in my head, for some odd reason. And I don’t think the Tigers have anything to do with it.

"DUENSING WITH THE STARS"?
john keating, your one-liners are worse than the tigers’ offense.
(just got home, watching recorded post game, ugh)
