see you tomorrow

it has to be better than today!

Rather be us than them

We still have a 2 game lead… slim though it may be, it’s a lead.

Go Nate tomorrow!

That's right

We WILL leave the Metrodome in first place. Granted, we will also leaving the Metrodome hoping the Cleveland Indians continue their late-season slide.

and if they can just salvage their bats for one stupid game

They will have a lead back up to 3 games.

It would be so Tigers to win one of three games – and the least likely one going in to the series.

I won't be able to see much of tomorrow's game

at least not the beginning. I hope Nate saves us. I think he can, if he’s healthy.

I don't know why, but I keep going to this

In 2007, Nate Robertson went 2-1 with a 1.93 ERA in four games against the Twins. For his career, he is 8-10 with a 4.23 ERA in 22 games.

i'm still most angry

’bout Lairds gidp in the 5th. I know thats not why they lost but I need something after that … sucky Gerald.

Now, now...

Granderson says the sky at Comerica Park during day games is much harder than the roof at the Metrodome.

if we dont win the division...

Lloyd is fucking fired.

by rook34 on Sep 19, 2009 7:13 PM EDT via mobile reply actions   0 recs

Maybe

It’s the overpaid, underperforming bat in RF (Ordonez), the black hole in LF, the absence of bats at C and SS (Laird, Everett respectively), the sudden resurgence of a bat at 2B (Polanco) and a designated hitter who can’t hit (Huff).

Just sayin.

I refuse to point the finger at Gerald Laird

The man throws out baserunner after baserunner. That’s far more important.

I agree

He’s been incredibly defensively and that’s huge. We should be able to make up for what he lacks in offense.

by kendra.michelle on Sep 19, 2009 7:35 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I believe the point was

you can’t blame McClendon for Laird not having a bat when you’re not playing him for his bat, you’re playing him for his glove. Ditto the shortstop. And really, ditto the second baseman.

by MackAveKurt on Sep 19, 2009 7:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That's fair

Really, it’s nothing against Laird, Everett and Polanco. But if it’s the case, we can’t really complain when we don’t have any offense.

When Lloyd is able to go out to the box and hit one down the line and score runs (but doesn't)

then (and only then) can he be fired. Until then it’s on the guys getting $$$$$$ to hit the little ball with the big stick

MLB.com headline "Saved by the roof: Twins within two"

how many variations on that headline have there been over the years?

by murrajo on Sep 19, 2009 7:15 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I can't believe they're counting down til they play outdoors

why would you give away the biggest home field advantage in baseball willingly?

You're right

of course the guys that put up the sign want to sell season tickets

i am shutting myself away from all coverage.

It is the only way I can stop from being a complete mess.

So I watched the whole game, just didn't get on the thread because I kept having to do random shit

but I was laying down in the 8th inning, starting to fall asleep (football Saturdays are always so tiring…but at least I got to see one good sports game today) when all hell broke loose. I think this is the first time I feel legitimately, seriously worried about us.

So...

Anyone want to speculate if the Rangers actually score a run in their game?

to cheer people up

Check out the list here. Entries in a contest for the worst opening line of a novel ever – amazing and hilarious what people can do when they are trying to write awful stuff.

It will put a smile on your face and take your mind off the Tigers for a bit.

Awful.

Watched the last three innings from an east lansing bar, and I’m pretty sure I was the only one there watching that TV. People also seemed confused when I started cursing at the TV between downs. Screw the Twins.

What in the world is going on in the KC-White Sox game?

David DeJesus leaves the game in the middle of the second inning, John Buck replaced Miguel Olivo behind the plate in the third, and now Dusty Hughes has been replaced by Yabuta in the bottom of the fifth. I only have Gameday up. What’s the deal?
