Tigers Win! Game 149 Afterglow Thread

Mission accomplished!  That is, if you were of the opinion that the Detroit Tigers just had to avoid getting swept this weekend in Minneapolis.  The bats finally came through to support the pitching, getting some key hits with runners on base, something that had been all too rare in the first two games of this series.

Nate Robertson sure looked healthy, and perhaps ready to give Detroit the starting pitching boost it needs down the stretch.  Pitching five innings, he allowed two runs and six hits, adding six strikeouts.  And Placido Polanco made sure there was no squandering today, slapping a single in the fifth inning that drove home two runs and gave the Tigers the lead.

Tigers beat the Twins, 6-2!  Full recap later on.  But for now, enjoy the afterglow.  Are you feeling a little better after a win or still kind of the same?

oh to answer your question murrajo

cause I also accidently stayed away from the postgame thread:

the beach was nice. cool, freezing cold water that no one but me dared swim in. Pretty much the relaxing Sunday I needed. Sometimes you just need a break from baseball stress.

Good news.

Joba isn’t pitching well, so that may mean the Yankees opt for the day off.

Hooray for not squandering!

Its days like this that really make me hope the Tigers hold onto Polanco for (at least) the next two years.

This was a good, good result.

Especially since this morning on XM Home Plate I heard them speculating about what the match-ups would be in a Yankees – Twins playoff.

Needless to say, I was quite sad.

Stuff it, XM Home Plate.

Hey!

I just found out that Thursday’s game is a night game. I’ll be able to see it after all! No way that lab will interfere with it. More JV for me!

Afterglow

Still worried about the Tigers. That three game lead is sure better than a 1 game lead, but it could still go away in a few days. Won’t be sure until the Tigers reach the magic number.

cram it hawk

7 back in the loss column with 12 to go. But best of luck with the twins the next few days.

Reality check

in the good sense. We 13 to go. The pitching match-ups for Cleveland look good and hopefully the White Sox and Twins will canabalize each other. The reality for the Twins is that they are 9 games below .500 on the road this and their next 10 games are ………………wait for it ………………. on the road. There’s nothing to celebrate yet but I am feeling pretty good right now.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing!

NOW it's an afterglow thread!

And they posted my rally anteater in the Twins game thread today as a kind of anti-rally creature. They also mentioned our rally penguin.

All they have is a rally loon.

They’ll never win this division.

by NCDee on Sep 20, 2009 8:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Baroque's baby penguin or my Olde English D penguin?

What did they say about it?

by SabreRoseTiger on Sep 20, 2009 8:04 PM EDT up reply actions

They didn't specify
I thought the Rally Loon was a little weird, but…

BYB is posting Rally Ewoks for this game
Blick!

What next… Rally Hanson? MMMBop?
Wait’ll you see

Their rally penguin!

Yes!

The Ewoks have gotten into their heads!

After all...

How else would you explain someone trying to connect Star Wars with Hanson?

Hmm

Rally Hanson may not be a bad idea…

Not sure how I feel about this...

but it looks a lot better than it did 24 hours ago.

It will be interesting to see how the Twinkies fare on the road. 3 up with 13 to go. I’d much rather be in our position than theirs.
