Tigers Win! Game 152 Afterglow
Fernando Rodney gave us another suspenseful ninth inning, giving up a two-run homer to Shin-Soo Choo, and putting the tying run on base. ("Can you hear the drums, Fernando" seems particularly appropriate in Cleveland.)
But Brandon Inge speared a soft liner by Jhonny Peralta to close this one out, giving the Detroit Tigers a series sweep, their fourth straight win, and a three-game lead in the AL Central. The magic number is eight.
Tigers beat the Indians, 6-5! Full recap to come. But for now, towel off, and enjoy the afterglow.

My internets broke
I had to reboot because my browsers weren’t working. I blame Rodney.

Suspenseful?
An episode of “Murder, She Wrote” could be described as “suspenseful.” A Fernando Rodney ninth inning would be better described as “the baseball equivalent of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”
Call me crazy
but I kinda like this version of Lansbury a little better:

Oh I know.
But my image of her is from Bedknobs and Broomsticks onward so being reminded that Angela was different takes me a bit back; mental images are hard to break.
the long, hot summer also features paul newman
and gaslight is a great film noir. both highly recommended! //classics nerd
I'm not much into the "classics".
I tend to watch soul crushing flicks about abject loneliness or movies where the “bad guy” wins or Pyrrhic victory is the only victory.
I like going to foreign movies.
I actually prefer going to theatres rather than watching movies at home.

no! but it's in my netflix queue I think
how funny, someone recommended that to me a couple months ago.
I don't think we have Netflix up here
So, whatever that means, I hope you get to see it. Delightful.

If you looked up "man" in the dictionary
there may well be a picture of Luke Jackson in there.

Gotta be honest here
it wasn’t good for me. But at least it was a win!

A win feels better than a loss.
Especially when it gets rid of the Worst Sox and stretches the lead over the Twinks.
love it.
especially since I just saw this pic today when I was browsing lolcats.

Where on earth did you get that photo? That’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.

Another message board I visit had someone bring up this image.
They didn’t remember where they found it but I figured it expressed defiant anger well so I began using it; then one of our other posters photo shopped an Olde English D on the critter and that one became the one used; she wasn’t around last night so the older picture was pressed back into service.

just had this thought....
but I love this blog. These games are so much more fun when there are strange pictures and rally animals.

I like knowing there are other Tigers fans out there.
There aren’t many in the Pacific Northwest and so most of my fandom is lost on the folks around these parts.
I went to college in Granville, Ohio (near Columbus), so there weren't many Tigers fans there
I didn’t watch as much baseball back then, but I wore Tigers shirts with such regularity that everyone thought I was from Detroit. I remember I hosted a prospective student from Kalamazoo once, and when I went to meet her, I just happened to be wearing a Tigers T-shirt. Her dad was thrilled to find a Tigers fan (and this was, like, March of 2004).

I remember a game in the Kingdome where a man and his son were wearing Tiger caps.
The guy’s little boy started counting the Tiger caps he saw and proudly declared: they’re on our side. I was wearing my cap, of course. One of my favorite moments at a ballpark ever.
I kinda like knowing there are people out there that yell at the Tigers as much as I do, night after night.

Are you kidding me?
Now my friends don’t have to listen to me go on about the Tigers and I can write to my hearts content about transactions or prospects! This place rocks!

if we all meet up next year we need to bring pics of our rally animals.

Aardsma hurt his back reading a book on the plane. He’s fine, though. Just found that amusing.

Hilarious injuries
Why does baseball seem to have so many of them?
by frisbeepilot on Sep 24, 2009 10:52 PM EDT up reply actions
The three that come to mind for me:
Carlos Guillen hemorrhoids (or, as I referred to it at the time, “a case of Too Much Information”
Chris Snyder fractured testicle
Brandon Inge oblique strain caused by a pillow

Aardsma
1. Is the first player in the Baseball Encyclopedia and 2. Missed a couple of games earlier this season due to having a boil lanced. On his ass. Google it – funny story.
I know the feeling
I should catch up on some of my reading, but only one class tomorrow, and only 5 hours of sleep last night…definitely tempted to sleep instead.

Luckily I didn't have any exams this week
I have two next week, but they’re in Professional Practice Development and Human Interactions in Healthcare, so they shouldn’t be too bad. However, Kroger’s wants me to work every waking moment, so we’ll see how that goes (This series with the Twins could be the most important series of the year, and I’ll be able to watch ONE game of it).

How lame am I?
When we had to sign up for lab sections, we had a choice between Tuesday and Thursday, and I wanted the Tuesday section specifically because there aren’t any day games on Tuesdays, so I wouldn’t miss one by being in lab, PLUS I don’t work on days I have lab, so I’d be able to watch that game at night. However, both Tuesday sections were full by the time my registration window opened, so I’m stuck with a Thursday lab and I work on Tuesdays.

Nothing lame about that

Anyone have ideas on the FlashForward/Tigers stuff?
http://www.blessyouboys.com/2009/9/24/1054074/tigers-flashforward-connection
And if you didn’t see the premiere, I would recommend it. It looks promising. And there’s obviously the “mystery Detroit ballpark” thing too.
I don't have a signature.
maybe he was at Ford Field? I mean, it's right next door
were there people in the stand in the stadium
Official BYB Juju Consultant...now accepting rally creature applications!
Yes, haha.
Many people.
And the field was diamond-esque. If anything in Detroit, it was the CoPa. You should watch the episode, or at least the last couple minutes of it. You’ll see what I mean.
I don't have a signature.
Football stadiums aren't normally referred to as "ballparks," though, are they?
Also, there’s the Miguel Cabrera cameo.

He’s just standing there, being awesome, or so I’ve heard.
(He actually isn’t in the show, I hope you know.)

I guess I have to download that tomorrow or whatever
I didnt realize his cameo was in the pilot. haha
That's where I'm going to look

Hey, it's the first I've heard of it, so it doesn't make much difference to me
But after reading your post, I’m kind of disappointed at David S. Goyer’s quote about “We didn’t say it was Tigers.” Damn it, I want it to be the Tigers now, just for the publicity.

Unfortunately, it'll probably be one those things that drags on for the entire season
This is why I tend to not pick up on TV shows until they’re already out on DVD (though I started to get into Dollhouse earlier this year and then stopped; I’ll have to pick that up again).

I don’t think they’re gonna win this game (Boston leads 7-3), but the Royals have ten hits all of a sudden.
