Tigers/FlashForward connection?
As I mentioned in tonight's (Sept. 24) gamethread, the series premiere of the ABC drama FlashForward ended with a very interesting scene. While reviewing surveillance footage from around the world, the FBI leads uncovered a strange sight: one man walking around amongst the unconscious. Seeing as everyone in the world supposedly passed out at this time, the walking man is a huge deal.
What is a bigger deal is where he was walking. The main female agent only notes that it's "in Detroit", but the place he is in closely resembles our own Comerica Park.
As much as I would like to say that this guy was watching a Tigers game before the blackout, the ballpark did not actually register within me as the actual CoPa from the footage I saw. Something was off. I can't tell you what, but I do not actually think it was our own field. What other MLB ballpark is in Detroit, you ask? Good question. I assume that we will find out by watching the show.
All we have to satiate our questions at the moment is this interview I found with the series creator.
"Crave Online: What’s the significance of the Tigers game?
David S. Goyer: We didn’t say it was Tigers. We said Detroit. You’ll know by the end of the season. "
That really doesn't answer my questions, but it does prove that Detroit has a role.
So for those who have seen it, what do you think? Is one of the more crucial mysteries at the moment based on one man being at a Tigs game? If it isn't Comerica, what do you think this place is? Or am I taking this too far, and the only reason he was at the park was because the alien ship beamed him down there?
Discuss.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of the Bless You Boys writing staff.

Do you have a link to that interview?
David Goyer is from Ann Arbor. He’s sprinkled Detroit into a few of his scripts and concepts (The Crow, Blade, etc.)

Just took a look at it on Hulu
Looks like an interesting series regardless, but here’s my insight:
The ballpark dimensions are very reminiscent of Comerica Park, but the left field scoreboard is wrong, and you can’t see Ford Field behind it (of course, this could also have to do with copyright issues, filming rights, etc).
Everyone’s flashforward is of April 29th, specified as six months in the future, so by inference, the “blackout” incident occurs on October 29th, which means that if it is a baseball game, it would have to be the World Series. I know CoPa is occasionally used for other things like concerts, but if it was a concert, it wouldn’t make sense for the scoreboard to read “Make Some Noise.” Also, there are no players on the field.
Anyone else catch the Rays-Red Sox reference? I wonder if that has any significance (especially since the character who said it lives in Los Angeles).
Of course, this is just the first episode, and as details roll out in subsquent episodes, my speculation could look downright ridiculous.

As an aside to anyone else who watched the episode on Hulu
Was there a 13 ABC logo in the corner when you watched it? That’s my local affiliate. I was wondering if it shows up no matter who watches it or if it read my IP address and stuck that there because it was my local affiliate.

DVR'ed it
About to watch it now. My fiance told me it’s awesome, a kid from my HS is in the show, and now this is all making me itch to watch. Thanks.

It certainly is.
I hope it’s just a crappy CGI CoPa, and that it actually involves the Tigers.
I don't have a signature.
Second episode was last night.
The Detroit baseball stadium thing is still a pretty huge focus of the investigation. Show is still pretty intriguing overall too!
