Adam Richman Takes On the Fifth Third Burger

There are more important things on television tonight.  But here's a reminder to set your DVRs to record "Man vs. Food" on the Travel Channel at 10 p.m. EST tonight for their "Baseball Special."

(And hey, the Tigers-Twins game might end in time to catch this.)

Among the three ballparks host Adam Richman visited for tonight's show is Fifth Third Ballpark, home of the West Michigan Whitecaps.  And if you're familiar with "Man vs. Food," you know there's only one reason Richman went to Comstock Park.  He's taking on the Fifth Third Burger.

Just in case you're not familiar with this monstrosity, here are the details (via Darren Rovell): It's more than a pound-and-a-half of beef (or five-thirds), with lettuce, tomato, salsa, sour cream, chili and Fritos on an eight-inch sesame bun.

If anyone can take down the whole thing by himself (or herself, of course), the Whitecaps will give you a Fifth Third Burger t-shirt.

(And in a trip near and dear to my heart, Richman also visits Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, home of the Charleston River Dogs.  I already look forward to vicariously reuniting with the "Dixie Dog" [pimento cheese and chili] and "River Dog" [cole slaw and chili].  Also, how do I get one of these jobs?  Richman, Bourdain, Zimmern - Do either of you guys ever need a fill-in by Casselberry?)

We've tried our best here at BYB to cover this subject thoroughly (although we haven't gone so far as to try the burger ourselves).  Here are some past posts:

Thanks for the reminder!

I completely forgot about this, I wish I had his job

I WAS THERE!

He did pretty good, but he wan’t as fast as I thought he’d be. Seems like an amicable fellow in real life, in case you were wondering.

And I’ll be in the episode in the crowd directly behind him. So pick a person and pretend it’s me. Because it might be.

I don't have a signature.
