Tigers Lose: Game 137 Thread of Shame

Wait a minute: No late-inning comeback?  I guess it's different when the Tigers don't face the Rays bullpen.

Clete Thomas not catching that foul ball in the right-field corner in the seventh ended up costing Detroit.  You just knew Billy Butler wasn't going to blow another chance there.

So would you be more mad about this loss, if the weekend sweep at Tampa hadn't taken place?  Or maybe you're mad, anyway.  You never want to see a win get away like that.

Tigers lose to the Royals, 7-5.  Full recap tomorrow.  There will now be wallowing.

if not for the six game winning streak

I’d be really, really ticked. As it is, I’m just disappointed.

it's hard but I keep trying to remember we *probably*

won’t win every single game from now til october. it’d be awesome, but the boys can’t be perfect all the time no matter how much of a high they’re on.

that's what I keep telling myself

And hey, if they alternate a six-game winning streak with a single loss, I’m not complaining one bit!

goodnight, folks.

I’ll be watching live playoff baseball tomorrow night (and probably trying hard to not puke from the stress).

Playoffs are so freaking hard on the nerves!

Meh

I’m the only member of the “Electoral College Fanclub”. We just need to choose better candidates.

I’ll try to stay away from the politics though- guarantee I’ll get banned if we get into that discussion.

Yeah

I decided a long time ago not to mix politics and baseball. I’d probably end up hating half the guys on the team if I delved into their political beliefs, and that’s rather pointless. I do have very strong political opinions, but I discuss them elsewhere.

bah

I figure all politicians, every country, every party, are nothing more than worthless parasites who scheme to take money from corporations for their own and the corporations’ enrichment at the cost of screwing over as many regular (and comparatively powerless) people because they don’t have the money to pay the list price of the politicians, and I wish that all of them could be collected in a pile and fired into the ocean off the coast of South Africa from a cannon (because the ocean there has a lot of dangerous sharks). :(

Somehow, I have to study for a Pharmacology exam that's on Thursday...

…Finish (meaning “start”) Kinetics homework that’s due Friday, and go to work tomorrow night. And, oh yeah, there’s a big distraction that goes by the name of Justin Verlander tomorrow.

Not sure how I’m gonna do it.

Though with MLB.tv, that really doesn’t matter

that is a disheartening stat

only the 2nd time they have won 2 in a row since the AS Break

by murrajo on Sep 8, 2009 11:28 PM EDT reply actions

I think the Marlins did that last year

They went the entire month of August without winning two games in a row, and yet somehow they remained in Wild Card contention until mid-September.

when I started work at 4 a.m.

I was running on a thermos of coffee until about 9:30 and then rubbing my head on the keyboard for 3 hours trying to figure out my name.

by Kurt Mensching on Sep 8, 2009 11:43 PM EDT up reply actions

I didn't start drinking coffee until I started getting up at 2:45am...

and than I got to perform the monotony of 3rd party inspection on car parts for minimum wage. And they wondered why a bad part got through sometimes.

by madpoopz on Sep 8, 2009 11:47 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not a fan of coffee (though I love the smell)

If I absolutely MUST have the caffeine, I stop by Starbucks and get a Cinnamon Dolce latte because it covers up most of the coffee taste. Usually I stick to energy drinks, though.

And by the way, Five Hour Energy tastes nasty.

by SabreRoseTiger on Sep 8, 2009 11:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Funny enough...

Coffee and energy drinks are the only forms of caffeine that do anything to me. I could drink an entire 2-liter bottle of Mountain Dew and it’ll have no effect. Then again, I have ADHD, so stimulants affect me a bit differently anyways.

Huh

MLB.tv is now showing Pampers commercials? Odd. And yet, it is still better than the Ace commercial with the HORRID sound quality that they were showing last week.

Well, I got Vin Scully up and running and now I’m off to bed (6 AM wakeup time)

I'd say too early

I’ll watch that number dwindle down, but I’m not gonna get excited until it’s in the single digits. The Tigers have too many games left with the Twins to assume we’re on cruise control.

137

I love the Tigers and I think they will hold on to win the division. But the playoffs will be very, very difficult because of their inability to hit.
