Jeremy Bonderman (R)
Nate Robertson (L)

Jay Sborz (R)

Dontrelle Willis and Armando Galarraga can go jump off a figurative bridge.
I'll let you pick your own closer out of that mix. I think its worth mentioning that Sborz is already on the 40 man roster, was presumed to be one of the "10 MLB-ready arms" that DD referred to last year that were already in the Tiger's minor league system, and as the likely 12th man on the staff, his innings may be limited in Detroit and that is why someone like Weinhardt or Satterwhite will start the year in Toledo.
Keep your fingers crossed for Bonderman's velocity to return... and Robertson's stuff to return... and Zumaya's health to return... and Porcello to avoid the sophomore jinx... and Verlander to avoid returning to the ways of 2008... and Scherzer to average more than 5 innings per start...
That is alot of fingers...

On the other hand . . .
. . . it could happen. That could turn out to be the best pitching staff in baseball. No, seriously . . .
It has amazing potential
But will require tons of luck.

I think you're forgetting mr ni fu te
I wouldn’t be surprised if Schlereth starts off in the minors.

That bullpen looks damn fine
CL: Zumaya
SU: Coke
SU: Seay
MU: Perry
MU: Sborz/prospects
LR: Miner
LOOGY: Ni

suprised at where Perry is placed
But then again where else would he be? I suppose it’s good for bullpen depth to have a potential closer as a middle reliever. man this isn’t looking bad at all. Now that you put it this way, maybe having a solid pen and questionable #5 starter isn’t so bad, especially if Gum Time/D-Train/Gallahaha falters, and Crosby (or perhaps Schlereth) ends up picking up innings as a starter mid-season.

Crosby won't start this year
Not for the big club.

Schlereth can't start
really. he was a reliever in college. If they were to convert him into a starter, it’s going to take longer than you think.
One Bad Season...
…and everyone’s turned their backs on Armando. We’ve seen him for two years, a total of twelve months, eight of which he was pretty good.
and the season before that was helped by unsustainable luck
but if he can find a way to harness that luck — don’t step on cracks, jump over the foul lines, take two steps forward and one step back, whatever it takes — he’ll be fine.

He still projects to be a fourth starter
Just not an ace.

IMO... Even though it's far to early to say for sure
Verlander/Porcello/Scherzer/Bonderman/Robertson
Miner/Coke/Ni/Seay/Weinhardt/Perry/Zumaya
Schlereth and Satterwhite will start in AAA Toledo. Only to be called up when Zumaya gets injured.
Weinhardt will get a shot this year and he will prove that he belongs!

Porcello will avoid the sophomore jinx
Power pitcher that relies heavily on his fastball, we have nothing to worry about as long as his location doesn’t go to hell. I guess we’ll figure out how long he’s been hanging out with the derailed D-Train on that front. As long as he’s at the top of the majors for double play balls, he shouldn’t have to depend too heavily on soft stuff to get batters swinging and missing.
I think we will end up starting Miner
There is no way that Bonderman and Robetson will both be able to pitch a whole season. They will either run into injury problems, or they will just suck.
Agree
But I wouldn’t mind that. Miner is an ok 4th starter… certainly couldn’t hurt as the fifth man.

Agreed. I like Miner in the rotation (or to get a fair shake at it), but I’ve come to accept the fact that he won’t.

Add Coke to the rotation conversation
More and more, I’m beginning to think Dombrowski has eyes on Coke landing in the rotation. There are plenty of other situational lefties in the bullpen. He started in the minors and seems to have the stuff that is better than Robertson’s. They clearly need a lefty in the rotation and maybe Coke is the guy. Certainly make the Granderson trade a little easier to understand if that turns out to be the case.
